Bugs, annoyances, other bits of site oddity?

I'm having a small issue with a particular thread. For whatever reason, I cannot view the 'Bill Walker' thread in B-ball Recruiting. I click on it and I get a completely blank page. I haven't had this problem with any other thread and I don't know if anyone else is experiencing the same problem with this one. It's not a huge concern, just very strange.

Medals should be back over this weekend, Skins. Unless you mean arcade trophies?
I was talking about the medals up by our names and locations C. I can't do well enough in any of the games to get a trophy. I really suck at them. I have fun but really suck.

Just wanted to also add my thanks for all the hard work you and all the other folks have done to the site. It's really appreciated. Best Buckeye website.

I've noticed that the scoring is jacked up on a couple of the arcade games. I'm guessing this isn't something anyone here can do anything about, since there are probably problems with the way the games are coded, but if this is the place to vent 'annoyances,' there's one.

Right, the coding of the individual shockwave games is out of my reach.

If someone here were well versed in flash, and had software to decompile and edit .swf files -- they could probably fix all that, but even then I'm not sure.

I see it, it's on page 4.

Someone clearly pasted something in from another site with HTML that's breaking the page. Happens now and again. Always a pain in the ass to fix.

Clar - what's the word on the Blog pages?

If I had to guess, I'd say they're still a week or two out. Could be a bit longer though, as there are two major hurdles, not just one. The first (out of my hands) is the recoding of the articles engine itself -- although I've also been working on converting the old software over to the new 3.5 standard just in case. I understand the new built-from-scratch work to be mostly done, but who knows. The other is squarely on me, and that's the conversion of all the old data to whatever format the new software requires. I've already been working on that.

Yes Clarity, I sent in a new Quiz about two weeks ago(I know, has nothing to do with the new upgrade). I don't know if it was rejected, not looked at, or just never recieved. I'm planning on remaking the quiz and re-submitting it. I just want to making sure I'm not wasting my time on this and risk doing all the work for nothing...again.

I know you said you wanted more quizzes.

The mod page makes me sign in nearly every time I go there, regardless of how long it has been since I was last in there, even though I don't close the browser. I'm guessing the session timeout value is way below what it used to be (before the upgrade, once I signed into the mod function it never asked for my user name and password again as long as I didn't close the browser). Is this supposed to be an enhanced secuirty feature? If so, it's a minor pain.

I had also been randomly subscribed to a couple threads...not subscribed to any now (you fixed the bug?)...

Clarity,

This morning I was subscribed to the "Coleman drops out of Governor's race" thread in the political forum.

I already unsubscribed to it.

It always seems to happen to me with certain threads that I've started.

I'm guessing it is a security issue...we had an issue with someone trying to hack into my account after a ban.

Hmm, that makes it sound more like a user setting. Looking into that now. I have that happen on another vb site, but I configured my account that way.

--edit--

Found it.

Go to User CP, then Edit Options. Scroll down to the second cell, and within that you should find; 'Messaging and Subscriptions'.

Look for this;

Default Thread Subscription Mode:
When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.

Make sure the pulldown there is set to 'Do not subscribe'.

If it's already set to that, it's back to the drawing board. Do let me know (everyone who has been seeing the random subscriptions) if that fixes it or not. Wouldn't mind knocking that off my 'to-do' list.

Clarity,

Unfortunately, I'm already set to "Do not subscribe" so that must not be the problem.
