Cavs 09-10 Season (official thread)

I have major concerns about bring in a guy in Amare that has been a major distraction from his team for so long. PHX has been trying to unload him for years now. That tells me he is not right between the ears. I think bringing him in might start to tear at a good locker room environment. Why mess with a good thing? Jamison would be a better add from that standpoint. I understand keeping LeBron is paramount, and bring in another huge name in their prime to play with him would all but seal the deal, but lets not set the city on fire in an attempt to do so.

What has Amare done to be a major distraction? He's been in trade rumors, but that's because the Suns have been in full fire sale mode for the better part of two years.

Ya know we don't know these athletes personally but when you constantly read things on sports sites that Amare wants to "be the man" on whatever team he is on that kinda stuff reminds me of things we heard from Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter, Iverson, Marbury, ect. ect. the examples are endless. These types of guys are known for killing locker room morale. I'm not saying that Amare is one of those guys. I'm just pointing out that, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way, if you won 13 games in a row and you have the best record in the league why would you want to start tinkering with the roster and chemistry of the team by bring in possibly volalite personalities?

Fair enough.

FWIW, Windhorst is saying the Suns are very close to giving the Cavs an answer one way or another.

Sources indicate Cleveland Cavaliers getting close to acquiring Amar'e Stoudemire

By Brian Windhorst, The Plain Dealer

February 17, 2010, 5:05PM

CLEVELAND -- There are indications the Cavaliers' chase of Amar'e Stoudemire is about to reach a climax. While the Phoenix Suns were still hoping to allow for more time, both to weigh the big decision and to see if other bids for the All-Star forward emerge, they are being pushed by both Stoudemire and the Cavs to make up their minds.
According to sources, as time runs out before Thursday's trade deadline and with other trade options on the table that the Cavs need to decide on, the organization has turned up the heat and is attempting to get the Suns to take or leave the Cavs' trade offer. It is believed to center on Zydrunas Ilgauskas and J.J. Hickson but would involve one more player and perhaps a draft pick.

according to my buddy in Cleveland who has a good pulse on things...its a done deal.. Jamison to the Cavs. Not likely the Cavs get Z back. Not sure how I feel about that part of it...

Was Z unable to deny trades? Seems like withhis tenure in the league he'd have that ability...

Windhorst is saying Travis Outlaw or Steve Blake could be involved rather than Telfair. I wouldn't mind getting Blake as part of this deal.

That's sad if Z doesn't make it back in 30 days. I think the Cavs needed to make a deal regardless, but Z deserves better.

EDIT: Windhorst has updated, it will indeed be Telfair. He seems about as useful as tits on a boar hog, but I suppose that's not what matters in this thing.

Getting Telfair does give an excuse to dig up this picture:

It will suck to see Z put on a different uni. I liked the Amare rumors because it would have brought Z back to the Cavs. I don't know why the Wizards would want to keep Z around for the rest of the season. It seems like they would be better off giving minutes to younger players. Hopefully they'll get tired of Z before the deadline to sign players for the playoffs.

You're damn right he does. It almost feels like selling your soul.

On my list of favorite Cavaliers of all time:

1. Mark Price
1a. Zydrunas Ilgauskus
