CB Jermaine Mathews, Jr. (Official Thread)

And in the Transfer Portal age, he’s still a Buckeye

TRUE Buckeye

It’s not even a question that he’s the best 3rd cornerback in the country. I would say he’s in the discussion for best 3rd corner in cfb history

Could have gone ANYwhere else and started

Did I say TRUE Buckeye yet?

Starting a post with the words "And in the Transfer Portal" should be a ban-worthy offense!

Finally got a chance to rewatch the spring game. This kid is for real if we don't already know it. I know how good our starters are, but he might be the best CB on our roster. I'm not calling for Burke, Ogbison or Hancock to not be starters because they're all incredible, but Mathews is going to play a lot this year.

With the game sliding toward a pass first mentality, the CBs are going to get winded chasing the WRs down the field for 40-50 yards. Happens too often, and when the opponent brings in fresh meat on the outside, our guys might lose a step or two. Ergo, Jermain, and (to be named later), will have to get more minutes just to keep up. And probably in meaningful times as well. All this to say, Jermaine will get some good time, and I'll bet vcash that he's the DB1 next spring. Fortunately, the DB room is stacked, and with the 2025 haul, will be even more stacked-er. Go Bucks!
