Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

Well, I mean, this team sucked. I'm not sure why folks are upset that some of them are leaving. Especially older guys. (Not just Adams in particular, but, you know... generally.)
Eh, Adams was a good depth guy, but certainly replaceable. Steinbach had to go. The one that puzzles me is Hillis. I know pretty much everybody was down on him, but KC got him for cheap. I'm just a little shocked they didn't even offer him a contract like KC did with the dearth of RBs on the roster. I think it's pretty certain they'll address it in the draft, but, outside of Richardson, I'm not sure there are any sure things draft-wise. Seems like Hillis would make a nice part-time piece anyway to share the load. I'm convinced at this point Hardesty has no place on an NFL roster, and there isn't much after him currently on the roster. So, if they don't plan on drafting Richardson (maybe they do now, who knows), they have to hope they can strike gold with somebody like Wilson from VT in the 2nd. I'd think a reasonable one-year deal with Hillis would have been a good move...but whatever...I think we're all used to this by now.

If nothing else, this lends itself to a lot of speculation about the draft. Maybe they go Claiborne at 4, then grab the best RB available at 22, and a WR in the 2nd. Those positions definitely need to be addressed, we know that much for sure...

They could take Claiborne at 4 and the try and package the 22 and the 37 to move up and get Richardson too, depending on where he lands (12-15 range might be doable). They have possibilities. I don't have my hopes up, but it's possible they won't fuck it up...mathematically anyway.

Looking back at their history since the rebirth...mother of god, this team has been an absolute joke offensively. This is their points scored per year since '99:

217
161
285
344
254
276
232
238
402
232
245
271
218

So, 2002 (344) and 2007 (402) are the only years we've had anything resembling an NFL offense.

That's an average of 259.6 points per year, or 16.2 ppg. Take away the 2007 outlier, they average 15.5 ppg over 12 years. It is nearly incomprehensible that an nfl franchise, in these days of parity can be so consistently bad. :slappy:

I know it's probably just GM speak, but come on...that's fucking insulting.

I wish the fans would stop filling that stadium to watch shitty football. That's the only way Lerner is going to make a sincere effort to improve this team...if you take $$$ out of his pockets. That way, he'll either actually force somebody to improve the team, or at least move this abortion somewhere else. Frankly, I'd be fine with that.

Well, that's a possibility, but then what do they do about WR? Wait until the 3rd round?

I'd be up for that, but I'd add Floyd to that list. I would call every team and offer until both of those guys are off the board. There have been a lot of NFL running backs drafted in the later rounds so I would go with a WR first if I could, but Richardson is a beast if he starts to fall.

I mean WR is a priority too. I would say that we could find decent receivers in the middle rounds, because a lot of franchises are able to do that...but we suck at it. Of course I would also say we could go WR and then draft a back in the middle rounds, because a lot of franchises are able to do that...but we suck at it. I guess my thinking is that there are a lot more good WRs than RBs, so it's harder to get a good RB after, say, round 2 than it is a good WR (I am thinking Ingram, Ben Tate, Helu, wasn't he in round 2? etc.) If we have to wait a year for WRs, then we do. I'd rather go in with Cribbs, Little, Watson, Evan Moore, Massaquoi if he could ever play...and a good RB out of the draft than get a guy like Floyd and still only have 1 real WR and have the shittiest stable of running backs imaginable.

All of this is true, and makes it all the more astounding that the clowns have continually [censored]ed it up. Going on the 14th year of this monkey-[censored], and they still have not drafted a good, consistent WR or RB, or QB for that matter. That's pretty much a statistical impossibility, but they've managed.
