Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

Don't take this as backing Shurmur but being down by 4 is a lot different then being down by 3. The Browns were forced to score a TD run than a FG not that it would probably have mattered but that does affect playcalling to a certain extent if you have a good coach.

I get that, and it was also in the beginning of the second freaking quarter... maybe eke out an extra field goal, eh? Not like your kicker sucks.

guys like belichek can get away with occasionally doing something like this in a post game presser. but this is the third or fourth time shurmur has called out a player. he called out hodges as well yesterday. but when you have a laundry list of poor game management decisions and questionable at best playcalling, you can't get away with such things.

Amazing to me how he keeps calling out players in his pressers. It's clear he's only thinking about himself at this point and hoping to save some kind of face to maybe get some kind of coaching gig once he is shown the door in Cleveland. I cannot imagine any player wanting to play for a coach that throws them under the bus at every opportunity.

How good is Honey boo boo?

He's neither big, nor fast and at 5'8, his last name isn't Winfield.

Pass....

Draft the BPA that plays DE, OLB, or CB and try to have a bad ass defense.

That would be Jarvis Jones. Which wouldn't bother me at all. Our pass rush is hit and miss and while Rucker is ok, Sheard really isn't lining up across from anyone that strikes fear into opposing QB's.

Fujita retiring just makes the pick that much more intelligent. In a Von Miller type of sense.

I'm not confident any 3rd round FS will be better then what we're rolling out right now, so I'd be happy to take the opportunity and address our need at RG. This line needs attitude and another mauler. The run blocking just isn't there. If they can open holes and sustain a little better with some fresh blood, that just makes the defense focus on Trent and opens up the passing game further. (Vice versa)

Praying we land that #1 overall to trade down and get back that 2nd rounder we lost this year. If you can hit on the first 3 picks. We've got something going.

Dumbest. Coach. Alive.

I mean seriously, guys end up wanting to play for coaches who chew them out sometimes...but not an asshat that takes no responsibility themselves. He's the kind of dipfuck that if Dawson missed a 52 yarder to win a game, he would say "Well, you saw it...we lost by 2, he missed the FG"...all the while ignoring the other 59:55 of the game, of which I'm sure he would have made about 10 boneheaded decisions that even Romeo Crennel would laugh at. Player's coaches are overrated, but guys who step up and take responsibility are guys people want to play for. Look at O'Brien...everyone likes to make fun of him, but all of his pressers after the first 2 games were "it starts with me"...and what a fucking roll they are on now. That's the kind of guy people want to play for. Not this, what was it? elephant hysterectomy? I'll go with that...

Simply put Pat got outcoached by an interim coach yesterday.

Shurmur is a walking colostomy bag who shouldn't find employment at any level of competitive football.

And you never throw a rookie WR under the bus when the effort is there. Rookies are going to miss things and make mistakes. The only way they get better is to encourage the proper play be made and tell them to get it the next time around.

In my opinion Shurmers constant dumba** attacks have turned a potentially 4-3 or 3-4 team into our current 1-6 state...He must go! I've never been more ashamed of a coach...?He is a total lame coach who is the Barry Sanders of blame shifting. As far as Heckert..
I believe he has been serviceable but we must be a player in free agency this offseason... Picks like Marecic can argue bringing him back..
We have to add another CB obviously and LBs and OGs...This team is not that far from competing in the North but not with the Shurmetnator at the helm..

The beautiful thing about what is happening now, is that it goes hand in hand with the decline of the AFC North.

How much long with fatty be able to hide behind the Steelers mediocre Oline? How many more big hits can he take? Their once dominant pass rush has slowed a step and now highlights their secondary that was below average the whole time (I'm including Polamalu)... The only problem is they've shown they can hit on draft's and develop players.

The Bungles. Well, they're the Bungles..

The Ratbirds. Defense is aged and in decline. Reed & Lewis will be gone after this year. Who know's how long Suggs will play after this last injury.
Sergio Kindle hasn't panned out for them. Next to Haloti Ngata, who is their next good Dlineman?

The Browns. Will a touch of intelligent leadership, can actually stake a claim in the next couple years. Weeden most likely has 3-5 years in him. 5-7 if we can keep him healthy. We have the youngest roster in the NFL, a decent 'core' of young talent. I have a feeling that will pay off handsomely next year.

Realistically, if we can get away from being the Clowns of the last decade. We can make a push for greater things.

If we can get away from being the Clowns.... :!

that's a big if. but, indirectly, the browns have kept the ratbirds and steelers afloat in the AFC through consistent losing. this is the first time in a while that the steelers look like they whiffed on the draft with decastro struggling then getting hurt and mike adams having real troubles. they are in a cap mess and need to shed a ton of salary to afford mike wallace. it's about time, since it was cleveland's ineptness that allowed them to draft the rapist in the first place.

the ravens have a lot further to fall. ladarius webb will be able to come back from his injury, but reed and lewis are gone. they won't regress as much as the steelers unless they continue with the charade of being a passing offense instead of riding ray rice.

At least Weeden doesn't have the wear and tear of a normal 29 year old QB.

This is reminiscent of the speech by John Belushi in Animal House. It makes me want to run out the door and destroy things.

I shamelessly stold this list from the OBR forum of Browns who will be free agents at the end of this season. While I also think that most of these guys will be gone with a new regime, I would think that they should keep Cribbs, Dawson (if the price is right), either Watson or Smith, Mo Mass, Robertson, and either Jackson or Chris Og.... I certainly would not sign Cribbs long-term but I think Benjamin is too fragile to be running back kickoffs and Josh is pretty fearless on kickoffs and punt returns.

I know that a lot of this depends upon who we get in free agency and the draft but it's never too early to start thinking about these things when you are a Browns fan.

Sheldon Brown
Josh Cribbs
Phil Dawson
Ben Watson
Reggie Hodges
Brandon Jackson
Kaluka Maiava
Mohamed Massaquoi
Scott Fujita
Chris Ogbonnaya
Jaqua Parker
Craig Robertson
Alex Smith
Emmanuel Stephens
Ray Ventrone
Christian Yount
Jordan Norwood
