Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

I shamelessly stold this list from the OBR forum of Browns who will be free agents at the end of this season. While I also think that most of these guys will be gone with a new regime, I would think that they should keep Cribbs, Dawson (if the price is right), either Watson or Smith, Mo Mass, Robertson, and either Jackson or Chris Og.... I certainly would not sign Cribbs long-term but I think Benjamin is too fragile to be running back kickoffs and Josh is pretty fearless on kickoffs and punt returns.

I know that a lot of this depends upon who we get in free agency and the draft but it's never too early to start thinking about these things when you are a Browns fan.

Sheldon Brown
Josh Cribbs
Phil Dawson
Ben Watson
Reggie Hodges
Brandon Jackson
Kaluka Maiava
Mohamed Massaquoi
Scott Fujita
Chris Ogbonnaya
Jaqua Parker
Craig Robertson
Alex Smith
Emmanuel Stephens
Ray Ventrone
Christian Yount
Jordan Norwood

i'll go through all these. sheldon brown, reggie hodges, ben watson, brandon jackson, scott fujita, juqua parker are all gone.

cribbs may be back if he is reasonable on a deal. momass should be a goner. alex smith, if he's willing to be paid for being a blocking tight end, might be back. robertson and stephens are definite re-signs. norwood, whatever. maiava is probably a goner. phil dawson is the only guy with a legit shot of being back.

The only reason I think Norwood might be gone is because of what I have seen of Josh Cooper.

Just saw this and thought it was interesting. Not saying what it might sound like I'm saying, it's just interesting.

Weeden has more completions, a higher completion percentage, more yards, more touchdowns and fewer sacks than Andrew Luck. Luck has two fewer INTs. Same exact passer rating.

Again, I'm not saying Weeden is better.. just one of those statistical tidbits that I find interesting.. haha

Luck has the benefit of throwing to Reggie Wayne. Also, he's not coached by a complete imbecile.

Sometime after the draft I said that Weeden had a good chance to be the best QB in this years draft based on first year stats. The problem is Weeden has at best 5-7 years left in the tank and Luck has 10-15. Luck also has 3-4 years of improvement before he gets into his prime. Being 29 you expect Weeden to be at his prime right now. He might improve a little next season with experience, but physically he is as good as he will ever be. On the bright side he is the type of QB that can have a long career since he pretty much stands in the pocket and guns the ball around so he only needs to move to avoid the rush like a Brady or Manning.

If the Browns can improve the OL and WR's Weeden will be a good enough QB to take them where they want to go. It's nice to see the mock drafts realize that the Browns aren't going to be in the market for a first round QB this year.

I can only imagine what the defense would look like with Jarvis Jones and another good CB. Give me a run down DL of Winn, Rubin, Taylor, and Sheard with Jones at OLB and then rest Taylor or Rubin on passing down to bump Winn inside with Jones at DE. I want it so bad it means it will never happen.
