Columbus Dispatch/Todd Jones Article

BuckeyeSkins

Go Bucks/Hail to the Redskins!!
I don't know if any of you read Todd Jones' article in the Dispatch this morning but I was a little confused with some of what he said. Without going into great detail, he basically said that even if all of the things being said by MoC prove to be unfounded it will still damage the image of tOSU. Maybe I'm a little dense here but if it turns out that none of these allegations are true how does that damage the universities image?

When it's all said and done and it's shown that MoC and ESPN screwed the pooch I don't see how it tarnishes the school. But as I said maybe I'm being a little dense here.

because you have idiot fans who want to believe OSU is dirty, so they will ignore the fact that it was all bullshit. which is one of the reasons ESPN chose this tactic to present the story. they will hurt OSU even if it is false.

It's a little like someone being falsely accused of rape or predatory child abuse -- once it's out there, the damage has already been done.

In the court of public opinion, you're guilty until proven innocent, and even then you're still guilty.

Even if every investigation shows JT and the entire university to be clean there will never be the same number of articles/reports in the media reporting as such as there already have been saying they may be dirty.

It is the exact same thing as the residual idiots that think that there were WMD in Iraq. Just becasue they heard it, it must be true. They are Lemmings marching off the cliff. Same with OSU. They heard it on TV, so it must be true or they wouldn't have said it.

This was not a political statement.

When Phat Phill Phulmer and the Tennessee program was accused of being dirty how many of us dug into the facts behind the accusations? Wasn't it just toooo much fun to simply repeat that the hated Volunteers were just another bunch of SEC cheaters?

When the Nebraska program was being raked over the coals a decade ago how many of us wanted to know the truth? Wasn't it just sweeter to revel in how the mightly were falling?

Amato cheats at NC St. We all know it - don't we?

Miaim is dirty as hell, we just don't have the evidence yet.

And Michigan - wow. When the banners came down I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I have some idea of what the evidence was on that one - but I couldn't lay out a path that led directly to misconduct by the coaches and Athletic Department. Some Michigan fans tried to explain to me how tenuous it all was, but what they were saying was borrrring! The headlines were so much more exciting.

Now it is our turn. Some fun, huh?

The differences there are that wrongdoing was proven:

Tennessee, Miami, and Nebraska were all proven dirty.

The NCAA investigated OSU and came up with nothing, yet ESPN continues its witch hunt.

NOTHING has been proven against OSU. It's the heresay of a known liar and thug against a man who has never been found guilty of anything, yet ESPN continues to lob stones at OSU.

WHY?
