I think it speaks to the idea of a matrix within a matrix. Hence the commentary of parsing out what is reality. So I'm sure they're going to borrow some things directly from the 1st. But if the idea is to focus more on the psychological action/thriller then I'm all for it.

Since the 3rd one (which i deny it and the 2nd one exist) they talk about this all happening before and many times over… I thought it kinda might be cool to basically redo the trilogy (albeit with better 2nd and 3rd movies) after like 20+ years…
