Commercials that irritate/make you wanna..

There are so many, aren't there?

Here's another one that's been running for a while:

The ad with the woman waiting for the cable guy, so she decides screw it and goes to take a shower.
Shocker: The service person who was scheduled to show up comes and leaves while she's making herself unavailable to answer the door.

Don't know about you, but every cable appointment I've had for years has given me a couple hour time frame, at least, AND called me before they showed up.

Are we really expected to feel empathy for her? How often is anyone really that desperate for a shower in the middle of the day? You knew they were coming, dumbass--if you were that stinky why didn't you get up earlier in the morning and get your stupid shower?
So that setup sounds like a movie I was watching last nigh...Er, uh, wait, what?

This one's been running for a while, and it always bugged me , but it aired again over the weekend, so I took a closer look. Yep, still creepy to me.

It's one of the dating site ads, maybe eHarmony. This one has a young-ish mom who already had a little boy. She's so delighted she found just the right man to marry her, and there he sits on the couch, with her son between them. Hubby's also delighted, as she is just what he was looking for: a mother with a young son.

Someone with the dating site had to send a cameraman, who had to point a lens and film these people, and someone with the company had to screen the video and select segments to use in their ad. They supposedly intend it to be a positive ad, so why did they include this moment?

As the little boy sits cross-legged between them, and the new adopted daddy rambles on, new daddy's hand is below the little boy's knee and his thumb is slowly stroking the kid's leg. The kid pulls his leg away. This was the first time I really saw that moment in the ad, but it always felt off to me--maybe it's Jerry Sandusky's fault, but any single guy looking that hard for a home with a child in it just felt off. And clearly, his attentions were not welcome to every member of the family.

I've seen that ad quite a few times, and never noticed the kid's reaction...creepy if so.

Reminds me of that fucking jewelry ad where the guy is marrying the attractive single mom, but buys the 6-8 yo daughter the same piece of jewelry and says something like “I am marrying you too”. Talk about grooming behavior 101. The guy was a smiley, creepy fuck too.

That ad probably ran around Valentine's Day, too. I do remember it. But, at least that one was make-believe.

What in the fuck is ABC doing with those 2 "rappers" spouting nonsense at each other for NBA games?

It’s rappers and the NBA...

Why are you thinking? That shit doesn’t apply here.

The target audience goes “oh yeah. Tight raps. Don’t know what they’re talking about but that shit is dope....oooooh look! The NBA!”

Mission accomplished.

They're not even rappers, though. It's like slam poetry. But with milquetoast rappers. It's just all around bad.

I’d have to see it...

Not!

God, that brings me back. I remember a few years back, 4-5 maybe? ABC used the Rolling Stones’ Rip This Joint for their playoff promotions and I was mildly surprised that they weren’t sticking with something more hip hoppy.
