Dumb and Dumber is back. Periodically, I am still getting virtual memory errors but now I am also getting some runtime errors and I were here a thump and be thrown right out of Explorer. I know that most of you told me to do a memory upgrade but I hate to do a memory upgrade if I am unsure that is going to solve the problem. I am not reluctant to purchase a new PC but also just hate to throw away money when I might have to be doing so. Any suggestions:huh: I really only use my PC for e-mail, Explorer, doing some Word documents periodically, and running my voice activated software. I guess my point is that I do not think I am a heavy user but hate when things run slow. Thanks for your patience.

What is the model number on your tower? Upgrading ram wouldn't be expensive at all. Slickdeals.net usually has some dirt cheap sales listed. A clean format probably wouldn't hurt either.
It is a Dell Dimension E520. When you say clean format, I guess you are complete reformat of my HD done by me:crazy::!

A quick check of your model number..

Features and specs on Dell Dimension E520 (DDCWAA37) PC Desktop - PC Desktops - Shopping.com

If that is your pc,then your motherboard will hold 4 gigs of ram. That is pretty much the internet standard nowadays. If you upgrade the ram, then you shouldn't have to consider another pc. That will do just fine considering what you stated it was used for.(I used 4gigs/AMD Athlon 64 X2,and loved it before switching to an i7/64 bit OS)

If you do upgrade the ram, pick up two 2GB strips, since you only have two memory slots on your mother board.

I suggested the clean format to eliminate possible(junk) programs/files/adware etc, that may exist on your computer, and a fresh registry. It's not a must though by any means.
