Congrats from Ark fans

there were disturbingly bad calls both ways. the call on DJ's great TD in the first half was equally silly, as was the play where OSU seemed to assume that a review was coming, pryor left the center without the ball, and no false start was called.

DJ's wrist was down...facts are facts. Debate the rule not the call.
On TPs play, the refs blew the whistle because the chains weren't set.

Here's a recap for the Arkansas fans who visited our site:

What you said: We face great defenses all the time in the SEC, and we scored with ease. We should hang 30+ on you, no problem.

What we said: Ohio State will have the best defense that Arkansas has seen all year, with the possible exception of Alabama. And rarely does anyone score 30+ on Ohio State.

What actually happened: Ohio State held Arkansas to a season-low 402 total yards (87 yards below their average), and a near-low in points (26, which was 11 below their average).

What you said: Beware of the big play! Ask LSU!

What we said: Ohio State will not give up big plays.

What actually happened: Ohio State gave up just five plays of over twenty yards, four pass plays (21, 21, 22, and 24 yards) and one rush (25 yards).

What you said: Ryan Mallett = Chuck Norris with a better arm.

What we said: Ohio State would get pressure from their front four, and their coverages would confuse Mallett.

What actually happened: Mallett was just 24 of 47 (51.1%) for 277 yards, 2 TD's, 1 INT, 4 sacks, and 5 hurries ... and he looked uncomfortable outside of the pocket.

What you said: We have the best receiving corps in the nation. Our top five guys could start for anybody.

What we said: The Razorback receivers are nothing special.

What actually happened: Seven dropped passes, and it seemed like they were hearing footsteps all night long.

What you said: We face great quarterbacks in the SEC every week.

What we said: Terrelle Pryor is as good as Cam Newton.

What actually happened: Pryor was 14 of 25 (56.0%) for 221 yards, 2 TD's, and no INT's, and also gained 115 yards on 15 carries (7.7 average). He was named the MVP of the Sugar Bowl.

What you said: Knile Davis is the real deal. He will rush for over 100 yards.

What we said: Our defense focuses on stopping the run, and rarely do we allow a 100-yard rusher.

What actually happened: Davis had 139 yards on 26 carries (5.3 average). Davis rushed for more yards against the Ohio State defense than any other back this year.

What you said: SEC Speed!

What we said: Big Ten Power!

What actually happened: Ohio State had trouble stopping the run, but had an excellent pass rush all night long. Pryor was easily the most athletic player on either team.

What you said:Our special teams suck!

What we said: Our special teams suck!

What actually happened: Arkansas was 3/3 on field goals, downed 3 punts inside the 5-yard line, and blocked a punt. Looks like we were right.

What you said: We'll win a close game.

What we said: We'll win a close game.

What actually happened: Ohio State 31, Arkansas 26, with the game in the balance until the final minute.

Going to have to say that Arkansas fans are rivaling Texas fans for my favorite opposing fanbase.

Great game Hogs, one of the best in years. Glad two great fanbases could be a part of it. Best of luck to you guys next year and maybe we'll meet again.

Stick around on BP!

Seconded. It's not easy to lose a close game on the big stage, and I've been impressed by the graciousness of the Arkansas fans on BP. Stick around, BP really benefits from fans like you.

I disagree about the DJW "TD" (great play though it was - that young man is a terrific player); it's probably a stupid rule, but it's a rule nonetheless that wrist down = player down. But I sure agree that bad calls went both ways.

Bottom line IMO is that the outcome wasn't majorly affected by the stripes.

Oh, BTW - looking forward to seeing DJ Williams in the NFL. Definitely my favorite of all the Hogs players. He'd look great in Browns gear!

take solace in the fact that Alabama lost a heart breaker to Utah (in the Sugar Bowl I think) the year before they won it all. Hopefully, our Hogs will experience a similar turnaround.
If being gang plunger raped by a pack of Mormons is a "heart breaker" - then, yes.

Actually, only 24 points were via their offense (safety).
