Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey

Magua

Buckeye
I saw in other threads people discussing this series that debuted last night so thought we could get its own thread going. I caught the replay showing last night and now that True Detective is over this will be one of my Sunday night DVR recordings. Mind blowing to me was the cosmic calendar they discussed and just how brief our existence has been since the big bang.

Loved this show last night. Especially loved the Carl Sagan tribute at the end. Not sure if they are going to continue the Science vs Religion part they did in this episode. But I really enjoyed they premiere.

I actually thought they did a pretty good job with this- not really "Vs", but that religion helped shape a climate where science could thrive (IMHO)

I thought the part about Neil deGrasse Tyson actually being invited to visit Carl Sagan as a teenager was interesting and how cool is it that he gets to narrate a modernized version of the original documentary done by the man he idolized and looked up to in his youth? I was actually wondering myself before this episode aired how they would handle the Science vs Religion aspect and was hoping it wouldn't be an attack on religious beliefs - and I didn't view it as such.

Was really looking forward to this show and wasn't disappointed. I was a big fan of the original series with Carl Sagan, and think Neil Tyson will do a great job following in the footsteps of his idol and mentor.

By the way, if any of you space fans such as myself get the chance to go see Dr. Tyson lecture, do it. It's a borderline comedy routine with awesome mind-blowing space facts.

And I recommend listening to the Joe Rogan podcast with Tyson on it. After all the moon landing bullshit ends, it's awesome. Also, Tyson's podcast "Star Talk" is awesome.

So, are people still watching this? I didn't pick it up until a few weeks ago and still have an episode or two to watch, but I'm completely fascinated. Of course, a lot of my interest is probably much different than most of yours. For me, this is what should be used at EPCOT, but...that's another discussion for a non-sports forum. Amazing show, love it.

I watch it every week, too. Somewhere I heard that they only have 2 more episodes. I hope they pick it back up for additional seasons.
