Welcome to the fam Miles! I love the Winfield comparison. I just see an Uber athletic football player and someone who can play the slot but even be able to slide back into a S role. He has some top notch coverage skills, and attacks the ball.
He's essentially what i envisioned Cam Martinez to be

Absolutely, he was just saying you don't need to be 6'1+ CB to be dominant in response to Miles saying he looked up to him. Lots of examples but I just love the AW example. Shoot, Burke could be your most recent example with a good year and an AZ guy to boot.

The lengthy, athletic CB is the new golden standard. But there are a ton of great CBs out there under 6' in not so recent past, Miles is going to be great if he plays to his persona.

Commit analysis: 4-star cornerback Miles Lockhart to Ohio State​

SCOUTING REPORT: Stout, solidly built frame with limited physical upside. Strong lower half. Really smart cornerback with off-the-charts instincts. Flashes very good ball skills and toughness in one-on-one coverage. Displays sound tackling ability to clean up on the perimeter. Looks at home near the line of scrimmage, whether in bump responsibility or run support. Superb two-way production and dangerous with the ball in his hands. Versatile defender who could fill variety of roles within a secondary. Equally comfortable in man and zone. Could continue to improve straight-line speed. Potential multi-year starter at elite Power Five level. Lockhart is the nation’s No. 22 rated cornerback and No. 2 overall prospect in the state of Arizona for the 2024 class, per the 247Sports rankings. In 13 games as a junior last year Lockhart was credited with 69 total tackles, four interceptions and 19 pass deflections to help Basha capture the Arizona Open Division state championship.

247SPORTS’ TAKE: The Buckeyes struck gold in the state of Arizona a couple cycles ago when they landed Denzel Burke, who would go on to start every game as a true freshman during the 2021 season, and now have gone back to the Phoenix area for another talented defensive back. Lockhart has been out with a foot injury since the start of the calendar year, which kept him from partaking in the off-season camp circuit, so in a way he’s become a bit of a forgotten commodity in terms of visibility. He fell out of the Top247 rankings in this latest update as more players ascended in rating, but we still hold his skill set in high regard and really value his productivity. Lockhart is a tough and instinctual cornerback who has been starting on both sides of the ball at the varsity level since his freshman year, so if he’s called upon to contribute next fall much like Burke was, we’d expect him to be ready to play at the Big Ten level.

My blasphemous hot take is that Hang on Sloopy, while a fun song to throw O-H-I-O into a few times, is a really lame experience in the stadium. What got the crowd “rocking” sixty years ago really isn’t cutting it anymore.

This is not a shot at Raiola because he's no longer an OSU commit. But this was the game where I wasn't so sure that Raiola was the best/generational QB that so many thought he was. I don't see more than 2 passes completed on Lockhart's side. Raiola didn't look like a confident QB able to pick apart HS defenses in this game. And Lockhart locked down 1 side of the field

You could use that controversial take for almost every CFB program. But tradition is what has continued to keep CFB such a popular monster.

I’m not talking about my own affinity for the song, I’m saying the stadium is dead. Almost no one knows the lyrics, so it’s [quiet…quiet…quiet] [1/4 of crowd] O-H-I-O [quiet…quiet…quiet…quiet] [1/4 of crowd] O-H-I-O…

A visitor experiencing it for the first time would be extremely unimpressed if they can even tell what’s going on at all.

Maybe it’s because I am only there for big games but again, my experience has been totally different.

He's a good kid and has good taste, and I'm not just saying that because he liked Adriatico's (now in hungry). Putting that aside, you sing the gosh darn song at least for big games. Especially The Game, whilst doing Kegs N Eggs like a true gentleman before kickoff.

But I digress, Miles seems like a kid that will embrace those traditions and already has started to. I know we all love the special Ohio powers, but this dude has it even being from the west. That's pretty freaking cool. Amped to see him in Columbus.
