DE Eddrick Houston (Official Thread)

I am wondering if this is happening, because LJ is retiring, and they told Houston as much.
This is going to happen every year until LJ SR actually does really retire. He’s grown stagnant as a coach development has been pretty poor the past few years. It’s time to move on.
This is not happening to Tim Walton. OSU needs to give LJ a position with the team, if he wants it, and hire a younger coach. I love LJ and he is a Goat, but when you are in your 70's the game is apt to change.
I agree. Look I love LJ but this “well maybe next year” has been killing his recruiting the last 3 cycles.

We aren’t getting the kids on the DL we used to and that should be a scary thing for a team also struggling to land elite OL.

I sort of hope he is retiring. Not because he’s bad because he’s certainly the best to do it but because we need to be able to tell kids their coach will be there when they graduate.

Fastest way to slip is to have LOS’ that just aren’t good enough. We saw that this year on the OL and damn now we could be in dire straights on the DL too.
Not gonna act like it's been a reassuring end to recruiting, but there always seem to be a position group that's struck out recently. They definitely need some big wins on the DL.

IMO, while they're not getting the top 10 OL we'd like, that was more of a Stud problem in his last few seasons.

Eh I mean stud at least landed some 5 stars. Frye hasn’t landed any yet and this is off season # 3 right?

I still think the OL recruiting is a problem.

As for striking out with a number of position groups? That’s what I mean by not learning lessons.

I really hope we can hang onto this kid. We need a win of some kind in recruiting up front.

Stud also didn’t have to deal with NIL. Talking about LJ and Frye, we are overlooking a huge factor for them not landing these 5 stars. NIL has been a game changer and right now the Bucks are struggling to play that game with lineman on both sides of the ball.

this is a positive... lets see if it holds

Saw a fong update later:

A source around Buford (Ga.) High tells 247Sports that long-time Ohio State commit Eddrick Houston (No. 33 prospect) has not made a final decision. While communication has remained strong with the Buckeyes staff, Alabama is indeed making it interesting down the stretch. I said early in the day I liked OSU’s chances to hold, not saying they won’t but don’t feel as strong about it.

Saw some buzz about Alabama about to have a great finish, kind of figure this guy gone which is a death blow to our DL this class.
The Gumps believe they are in good position to flip 3-4 guys tomorrow. That may include E Houston, but it might not mean it will definitely be him either.

I guess we'll see but they do seem pretty confident about a few guys they're pushing to flip.

"LJ is not retiring, but it seems like people around Alabama have gotten in his (Houston) head"
Basically people at the Woody have gotten nervous but nothing has actually been said and they don't know for sure if he is actually flipping.
"Never really wanted to go anywhere else but now is reluctant to believe LJ even though he has called him a father figure"
Says none of it makes any sense.

Bama, "...has convinced the folks close to the kid to lie to him for selfish purposes and muddy the water.”

Disgusting, if true. But that's recruiting...
