DE Jamal Marcus (Official Thread)

He's going to be on the field early and often.

I'll go on record now that he becomes the gem of this class. That doesnt mean that the other guys won't be All-Americans or what not but the AJ Hawk type guy who comes in and starts to make everyone take notice all the way up til draft day. I think it'll be this guy.

 He looks like he's in fast-forward in that highlight film. I was blown away the first time I watched it but I thought maybe it was because my expectations were low (3 star ranking). So I watched it a few more times and it just got better. Our linebackers are going to be a collective wrecking ball the next few years. Welcome Jamal!

After seeing all the comments about Jamal's highlight video I decided to take a look at it. Wow! I want to echo the sentiment that in no way, shape or form is it justifiable to have this kid as a 3* (out of 5*). Size, speed and seems to play with great instinct. This is going to be an exciting player to watch.

I've watched my share of highlight vids over the years, and I can honestly say Jamal's is top-5 I've seen on the defensive side of the ball. This kid will be big time.

Man amongst boys. Strong, fast, and tackles very well. When he hits you are going down.

Did you see the first play on the fumble recovery. Nobody was going to catch him. :yow1:

Agree with the posters who say he may be the surprise of the class.

Hillside High defensive end Jamal Marcus is surrounded by friends and family as he announces he will play football at Ohio State. He and other members of the team signed National Letters of Intent Wednesday in the school gymnasium.

Durham Hillside linebacker Jamal Marcus, one of the top high school football players in the state, said he knew he wanted to go to Ohio State after talking to new Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer for the first time.

Marcus (6-foot-3, 225 pounds) chose the Buckeyes on Wednesday during a signing day event in the school gymnasium that included 10 teammates. Marcus had narrowed his list to Ohio State, N.C. State, Florida and East Carolina.

High school football players may commit to college programs at any time, but the agreement is not binding for the player or the school until a player signs a national letter of intent.

The football signing period began Wednesday and will continue through April 1. Field hockey, soccer, cross country and track and field have the same signing period.

Marcus, who is ranked No. 15 in the state by rivals.com, said he enjoyed his visit to Ohio State, but said one of the biggest reasons he chose the Buckeyes is its tradition.

"I know I will have a chance to play for a national championship," he said.

He has to run a 4.5. Looked amazing.

On a side note, are there any stats out on him? as in tackles, ints, etc?
