DE Jaylahn (JT) Tuimoloau (Owner, Giant Erector Set, All B1G)

I know he wants to play DE and he should keep getting reps there but I’d like to at least see some of him inside as well.
I think Tyliek next to him on the inside is a massive combo. The stunt they ran for a sack this week was beautiful. It works well together so I'm hoping to see more of it. That means Haskell is out though so I'm torn.

I think we'll see JTT more inside later on in his time here to improve his versatility and change where he is lining up. For now I think he'll occasionally go inside for the rush man packages. I think we need more help at DE right now with injuries to Friday and Harrison, plus that's where JTT wanted to start off. But at the end of the day, I do think he's best suited at DT, particularly once he has a full year of fitness and nutrition in our system.

Ummmm… J.T. Tuimoloau… regardless of where the JT comes from, I thinks it’s easy to see why it’s a thing. I’m on board with whatever he prefers, though.
Get it right, folks :biggrin2:

Props to this person for crafting the tweet in a way that doesn’t immediately perpetuate the misguided naming practice.

He tried to clear this up when he committed too, but to no avail. It is what it is…

“Coming in late, my goal was just to be the best version of myself that I could be and always compete,” Tuimoloau said. “Keep your head down and stay humble and stay close to God.

“I’m playing pretty decent, but there’s still lots of room for improvement and I’ve just got to get better.”

Tuimoloau then explained what the biggest adjustment has been for him in terms of playing college football.

“Obviously I did come in late, but I would say it would probably be just competing against the best and going hard every day,” he said. “You’re going against the best in the Big Ten and one of the best in the nation in our O-line, so you’ve got to bring your best every single day.”

Tuimoloau has actually dropped a few pounds from his senior year of high school. He came in around 278 and is now down to 275, and he feels quicker and stronger.

“Yeah, since coming in, I’ve kind of leaned out a little bit,” he said. “And my goal is to keep leaning out. But yeah, I can see my body changing as I’ve been here for the past two-and-a-half months.”

The humble Tuimoloau admitted he did not envision himself being a starter this early in his career. Not that he will necessarily start every week, but just the fact that he's already started a game is notable.

"No, I did not expect that," he said.

To be fair, I would edit the thread title slightly. The man is called JT, or Jaylahn Tuimoloau. He is making it clear that he is not JT Tuimoloau. A title edit to "DL Jaylahn Tuimoloau (JT)" is recommended. OSU might not care enough to change it officially on their website, but they're careless about the details sometimes. I feel like as long as you don't have two JT's at the same time, it's all good to go by JT.

Exactly. I didn't think it sounded like he had an issue with being called JT, but was just pointing out that JT Tuimoloau is redundant with the "T". In my IMO.

I made the change before this was posted
