DE Robert Rose (Official Thread)

BN $

Rose checked in to the Army combine at 6'4" 238 lbs and ran a 4.7 on a reportedly slow track. His 40 time was extremely attractive to the numerous scouts on hand. Robert would like to play DE at the next level. He is enjoying the national attention but don't expect it to last very long. Rose has made it known he will play in the Big 10 to be close to his family:

"I want to go to a school that’s real close to home because I want to be close to my family. And to a school with a good coach and a good program," he said with a smile on his face. "A close school to me is like Ohio State. I like the Buckeyes. I’m an Ohio State fan."

Wait till camp? Someone should drive their ass through this blizzard with a written offer for this kid today. Remember at all times, kids from NE Ohio are rough, and the kids from Glenville are the fastest of the rough.

This guy seems like a diamond in the rough. He has the speed and frame, in the mold of a dynamic DE.
The best part of that statement is that he is a junior.
Maybe next year, as a senior, the diamond will show.
By the time he gets to OSU, he will be the diamond.

Man next year looks to be HUGE for us. In-state is unbelievably rich. It seems like all of our main needs we can get in-state, and theres a good amount of early OOS interest as well. '06, imo will challenge the '02 class.

As for Rose, I'd love to see him in the S&G and bring some other Tarblooders with him. I really cannot wait for this class to start heating up!!!

I cannot wait to see this kid in the Scarlet and Gray. He is going to be a big player for us and should be a top rated Defensive End recruits in the entire country.

Rose is #99!!!! Current Buckeye commit Freddie Lenix is #7, CB Ray Small is #13 and I think #9 is QB Arvell Nelson. I am not sure of the others, but these were the Glenville kids that went to the Combine in San Antonio. WR Daven Jones and OL Bryant Browning are not pictured, but only because they were late, or soemthing like that. All these stud athletes pass my look test and they all seem destined for big things at D1 schools. Good luck to all the Tarblooders out there.

Rob discusses receiving mail from Iowa, Ohio State, Boston College, Purdue, and Michigan State. Kirk Ferentz was at Glenville HS a few weeks and spoke to Rob. Rose has attended a few tOSU games and has spoken with Coach Tucker and Coach Tressel. He says he is not sure which schools he is interested in right now.

Just a few tidbits on Rob from San Antonio:

Ran a 4.7 on what was considered a "slow" Alamo Dome track. He checked in down there at 6-4 238. He stated that he would like to go "nowhere else but the Big Ten" and that he "like(s) the Buckeyes. I’m an Ohio State fan."
