DE Ryan Williams (official thread)

Ryan has described the injury as tearing his "MCL, ACL, and 'something else'." I don't know what 'something else' is, though. He was at the Fiesta Bowl, on crutches, on the sideline with the team.

I tore up my knee playing basketball...partial tears of my ACL, MCL, and Medial Meniscus Cartillage. I also think I partially tore my PCL in the other knee playing ultimate frisbee, but didn't spend the $ on another MRI to check that one out 'cause it didn't seem near as bad.

Lots of stuff to tear up in a knee...speedy recovery, Ryan.

Just out of curiousity, Would Ryan get a medical redshirt?

It would be possible, since he already took his regular redshirt year. But the request for a 'medical hardship waiver' wouldn't even be made to the Big 10 conference until after his 5th season with the team (although he probably would only have played in 3 seasons at that point).

Conditions of the medical hardship waiver (medical redshirt) are that the injury occurred prior to the 20% mark of the season (rounding means by game 3 in a 12-game year), and that the athlete doesn't participate in more than 3 games, all of which must be in the first half of the season.

I was reading the first page of this thread, and it said that Ryan was originally from Washington Court House (I knew he was from Ohio). Isn't that the same area as Nathan Williams? Does anyone know if there is any relation?

I thought there was a relationship, but other posters have said no. If he is from WCH, I imagine there would be some sort of connection-6'5 240 DEs w/ the same last name are not exactly common in Fayette County....
BTW, Nick Reed, the bookend DE w/ Ryan at Mission Viejo is projected to be the starter at Oregon this year

Please do not post premium info...we will work on seeing what is going on with Ryan in the mean time. This is the second time we've had to warn someone for posting something that was taken from a premium message board in the last few days.
