DE Steve Miller (Official Thread)

if we get Steve Miller and Chris Rock next year we'll be the celebrity hot spot, move over USC.

Not to mention Jeremy Cash. Cash Money, Johnny Cash, you get the picture...though I don't think as likely as Rock and Miller, but he did seem to really like OSU camp.

I already posted one in Braxton Miller's thread, but here's another laugher from Tim at mgoblog to give you a good laugh this morning.

Steve Miller, 6-4 230, Canton OH McKinley. One of the top 2-3 players in Ohio for the 2011 class. He's visited Michigan in the past, and the Wolverines are looking at his 2010 teammate Jewone Snow. If Michigan wants to return to the bigtime, they'll have to start beating Ohio State for good Ohio prospects.

not going to happen in 2011, me thinks

Scout $ - McKinley's Miller An Early Buckeye Target

9/2

By The Bank...talks about playing some tight end this year and becoming a student of the game during the off-season...has been told he will have an offer from OSU and wants to check out some other schools but says OSU will be tough to beat.

Not sure it shows up for those without $ access, but this column was written before Sept. 1, hence the "has been told" reference.

MILLER GETS OFFERS

McKinley defensive end Steve Miller (6-4, 240 pounds) has been on the national recruiting radar for at least a year. Now the big junior is blowing it up. Sept. 1 was the first day colleges could offer junior players scholarships, and no 16-year-old in Stark County received more mail in the last half of this week than did Miller.

Ohio State has offered Miller. So have all the top programs from USC to Notre Dame to Tennessee.

?He?s getting about 10 a day,? McKinley head coach Ron Johnson said.

Miller could verbally commit to a school before the start of his senior season. He could do it any time, including this year. Whether or not that happens is something Johnson wants to address with Miller.

?We?ve talked about it going into this season,? Johnson said. ?I thought it would be a good idea. He?s done his homework. But this week that was the last thing I was going to bring up because I didn?t want that on his mind with the challenge (Huber Heights Wayne) in front of him Saturday.?

I went to watch Steve play tonight against Wayne. The McKinley coaches seemingly game-planned him out of the equation. Because of Braxton Miller's scrambling ability, McKinley brought virtually zero pass rush for most of the game. They played contain and forced Braxton to throw the ball (which he did quite well). I understand the coaches didn't want to lose contain and flush Braxton out for big running plays, but it was odd to see them not utilize one of their best defensive weapons.

Bucknuts (free): Miller To Take His Time

9/21

By Heath Schneider

Ohio State received an early commitment from junior defensive end Kenny Hayes of Toledo Whitmer, but it doesn't sound like Canton McKinley junior DE Steve Miller plans on doing the same.

...

"I don't have one," Miller said, when asked about his top five schools. "I'm still trying to figure out where my officials will be right now. Ohio State will be one. I don't know when yet."
