Devin Gardner (official thread)

It seems that anybody wearing a winged helmet is a very special player who will put up amazing numbers until the next very special player who will put up amazing numbers comes along.

Nope 100% false.

Of course if he doesn't have an o-line or playmakers around him he will struggle. If anybody thinks that Gardner isn't talented or can't be a special player................I would like to hear why.

I think Gardner has a lot of potential. Potential gets coaches fired, and a third straight frosh QB could do exactly that.

However, Tate can't run the ball RR requires in his offense, either in ability or durability. If Devin can digest the basic playbook, he'll supplant Tate by midseason.

Exactly what has he done at the Div 1 level that leads you to conclude that he is going to put up amazing numbers? I have been reading this claim about all of these wonderkid QBs recruited by RR. Sorry if you take offense to my watching the movie first before I render an opinion.

Did you have the same opinion on Pryor coming in?

It would nice if Gardner could redshirt and learn the system but that probably won't happen. RR knows he needs results quickly. He will do anything and everything to try to achieve them.

Didn't take offense at all. Just saying if he a good cast around him and used correctly he will probably put up some nice numbers. That doesn't mean Michigan will start winning because our defense is just horrible and it doesn't seem like they will improve any time soon.

Yep. In fact look at my posts in the recruiting forum - you won't find many. I don't get caught up in all of the hoopla of OSU cannot exist without this, that or the other player. My posts in the Pryor thread consisted of calling UM out for forcing a disabled vet group to file suit to provide seating for disabled people in compliance with ADA during the stadium renovation while trying to sell the Pryor family including Pryor's disabled dad on what a great bunch of caring people they have in the athletic dept and administration at AA.

Yes, and look how that's worked out so far. You'd think that scUM fans would have learned that lesson, given how often they bring it up. Potential!=reality.

I think Pryor is amazing but he just didn't play like the way I thought he would. OSU's defense carried your team this year. Of course he has two more years and should get better. A lot of exceptions on the kid.

I seen both Pryor and Gardner in high school. A couple of things stuckout at me. Gardner played much harder football teams and he was way more accurate throwing the football. I think TP is ready to breakout. Gardner will be the quarterback by midseason IMO.
