Penn State said Monday ( 28 Oct 2013) it is paying $59.7 million to 26 young men over claims of child sexual abuse at the hands of former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.
The school said 23 deals are fully signed and three are agreements in principle, but did not disclose the names of the recipients. The school faces six other claims, and the university says it believes some of those do not have merit while others may produce settlements.

Three former Penn State administrators await trial in Harrisburg on charges they engaged in a criminal cover-up of the Sandusky scandal. Former president Graham Spanier, retired vice president Gary Schultz and retired athletic director Tim Curley deny the allegations, and a trial date has not been scheduled.

So I see that insurance is paying off the lawsuits over Sandusky's sexual abuse of children. Amazing to me that an insurance policy would cover such a thing.

Yeah, I would've figured that employee-gone-rogue liability insurance becomes void when the board of trustees accepts an independent report finding upper management complicit and trials are pending.

insurance will cover anything if you know in advance you'll need it. the insurance company probably thought they were pulling one over on PSU when Paterno approached them and said "Hypothetically.....can we get covered if, say.....just for example, like, an assistant coach was molesting kids. Just hypothetically say one of our coaches got caught in the showers with a small boy. Obviously this isn't happening now......I just want to see if we could be covered for that if the victims or whatever you'd call them ever came forward and sued."

Penn State just gave those "victims" $60 million, they got what they were really after. You should be able to get money or a conviction, not both...conflict of interests, only "evidence" is "victim" testimony, he will be released on Federal appeal...

And these fucktards want our respect? Wow. I don't normally wish ill will people, but Mr. Ready need to meet a horrible accident some time soon for posting that. Fucking disgusting.

Gee, I dunno...what is the going rate for a childhood these days? (And for spending the rest of your life trying to patch yourself back into some semblance of a whole person?)

Anyway, Happy Birthday, Joe...err, Death Day...whatever. I'm not particularly a religious literalist, but if I have my druthers, you won't be lonely down there too long--when their time comes, there's a whole boatload of PedStaters who can keep you company burning in Hell.
