DL Michael Bennett (National Champion)

Saw a tweet from Brandon Castel saying that Bennett has been lining up across from Brewster in practice. Two questions.

Does this mean he will see more playing time this week?

With his experience playing defense against option teams in high school, will any of that matter against Nebraska this weekend?

Perhaps its just me, while Hankins is disruptive - his best work is done in the middle, not at S/WDE

Agreed... Hankins is fast, but he's inside fast not outside fast. Take nothing away from him... amazingly fast for someone his size... or half his size for that matter.

Bennet is amazing for being 18, and coming off of a broken arm in which he couldn't lift with.

I think next year may be our best Dline since the Natty team. Simon/Hankins/Bennet/Williams will get reduced reps with all the young talent and they should be able to keep the fresh bodies rolling in at the LEO and hopefully more consistent production.

The addition of Bennet gives us 3 legit bigs who can get to the QB.

Did you forget about Goebel? Think he can do some serious damage.

Won't Williams have graduated?

I don't see Goebel as an impact player at this point. I think he is solid, and still has time to improve, but dissapears often. I think the younger players behind him will greatly reduce his playing time(I think the same for Willaims) ie primarilyBennet. I don't think Goebel starts for the full season next year.

Bennet is a star in the making who has just scratched the suurface of his potential. If I recall he was an Oline player as his his primary position in HS and not the Dline. At this point it's remarkable to play the way he has. A year in the weight room and technique training, reps etc. Imo he's gonna be a very good one.

Keep in mind that MB did not enroll early, was coming off a track and field state championship, and a broken arm and still made it into the two deep. Also consider that he spent 1/2 of his high school career at OL.

Even with all that, he still made it into the two deep to start camp. Once this guy gets going he will be a STUD! Future is very bright.

Sophomore defensive lineman Michael Bennett spent time with the first team defensive line today and Meyer said he?s seen noticeable strides out of the Centerville, Ohio product. ?Luke was much higher on him than I was through the off-season workouts and all that,? Meyer said of Bennett. ?I can see it now on the field. He?s a playmaker ? he?s just a good players. He?s hard to block.?
