DL Willie Mobley (transfer to Orange Coast, Arizona and NMSU)

I don't want anyone to take this wrong way...I am not saying this like some ND fan who finds out a kid could be leaning somewhere else and immediately starts pointing out why they didn't want the kid in the first place, despite the fac the staff thought an offer was warranted...

And obviously the staff knows a lot more than any of us do...

Having said that, from the film I have watched, if I could only have one, I would prefer Goebel to Mobley. This class needs a true DT or two and I think Goebel, especially with his wrestling background, is one. I also really would like to see Rowell get a look at camp. Mobley reminds me a lot of David Patterson, which is definitely a good thing, but I think pure DTs need to be a point of emphasis in this class. Jenkins or Long could also help fill that need.

I agree with you Mr. Wade...

You have to love the wrestlers at DT and Rowell has an unlimited ceiling...

UH has made a scholarship offer to Willie Mobley, a celebrated defensive end from Eden Prairie High School in Minnesota. He is a junior and will not be eligible to sign with any school until February 2008.
But Mobley said: "I'm very, very interested in Hawai?i. I have a satellite dish, and I've been a fan for a long time. I love the way they play. I love their style."
Mobley, who said he is 6 feet 3 and 260 pounds, was named to the Rivals.com 250.
He also was selected to the 2006 All-State and All-Metro first teams.
Twelve of his 72 tackles were sacks.
He said he has received offers from Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio State, Arizona and Wisconsin.

A little info from the local paper.

From the Arizona site...Oklahoma, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Iowa State, Ohio State, Kansas State, Hawaii and Arizona have offered. He does not have a favorite but does have family in Arizona and will likely visit this summer.

Willie has offers from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Iowa State, Arizona and Kansas State, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Hawaii. He says he will go wherever he is most comfortable, but cites Walker Ashley's USC experience as an example of coaches selling their school but a recruit not fitting in the environment.

I talked to Willie personally about his recruiting situation last week. He told me a couple of things that are definitely of note, but the conversation was more casual, and not "on the record," so I won't give any of the details out of respect to Willie.

However, he did say to me that he went up against Mike Adams at the AA combine and was very impressed. He also said that he feels Brewster may be the best lineman in the country.
