DT Shawntel "Shaq" Rowell (West Virginia signee)

Rowell losing too much weight is a non factor, and in fact the more he loses the better. He obviously has the frame to carry a ton of weight, so he can go ahead and get all of that bad weight off and prepare to put some OSU strength and conditioning weight back on. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays at over 300 lbs. no matter how much weight he loses in the meantime.

Wow....that is impressive. He seems to be a kid who is completely focussed on the job at hand. I can't wait to see him on the field.

This kid already makes me smile.

Dropping 75lbs by WORKING OUT and DIETING is amazing. I'm sure his endurance is improved as well.

I hope he's inspiring everyone on the team.

Last I heard, Worthington was around 285-290 and Denlinger was 290-295.

There is no reason for us to go back and forth about how much they weigh, thats how these threads get clogged up with garbage. I think you got my point, our DT was a little on the light side last year and we got pushed around up-front a bit. A large DT that clogs up the middle might not be horrible

I apoligize if I was off by a few lbs

Don't take our little convo so seriously. I don't even know if my info is correct. That's just what I've heard before.

The thing I like about shaq losing all the weight is that it shows he is driven and motivated. Its HARD to lose 75 pounds. Im excited to see how this determination translates onto the football field at TOSU. It just proves to me that he will go out and work hard and do whatever it takes to make himself successful, and that kind of work ethic tends to rub off on people. I was skeptical of the offer when he first got it, but I must say I am truly a
Shaq fan now. I think he is going to be a good one on and off the field for the team!:osu:

The new spring roster released has
Abdallah 300
Denlinger 292
Larimore 300
Worthington 276

I wouldn't be to concerned with the weight at this point except for maybe Worthington. Pitcock was quoted as saying his best playing weight was around 295. That was the same listed weight as Anderson.

Yes, the more important thing is leverage and that's what Worthington really struggles with given his height.

where'd you guys get the spring roster from? I went to the link on the official sit and it said it wouldn't work. I tried on 3 different computers, a PC at my house, a my laptop mac, and the imac at school, so I figure it's the site.

Compare Shaqs new image: Photos by HD Photography- powered by SmugMug

If he keeps up with the self discipline and does what Ohio St. tells him to do, we got a STEAL.

That is dedication my friends...

That is the one problem you don't see out of these big kids usually, they don't have the work ethic and dedication to be able to do things like that...

I have said it before in this thread, but don't be surprised to see Shaq go first round in the NFL draft in a couple years...

I know this topic has been discussed, but what do you say the ODDS are the Buckeyes move towards a 3-4 in the next few years? Seems like we're loading up on DE's and LB's. As long as a monster DT can occupy two o-linemen, a 3-4 could be a perfect fit. Being a decent Browns fan, I'm not loving the 3-4, but maybe it fits with the way the Buckeyes are recruiting these days.

Is Simon projected at DT in college? Hmmmm, maybe that changes my theory.

Not going to happen...We will see three man fronts but that is to go Nickel...

We won't be seeing a lot of 4-3 anymore either...We will be seeing a ton of nickel and dime with all the teams going to 3 and 4 WR sets all the time...

Like CB40 said, teams are in the nickel 65-70% of the time these days..
