Dymonte "LLLL" Thomas (DB ttun)

I'm kinda surprised Dymonte pulled the trigger this early.

Well, it was an emotional night in AA- big win, fancy costumes, new fangled electricity and all that... It's easy to see how a kid who was already feeling a good connection with a program could make a decision earlier than his initial plans.

Scout $ - Thomas Couldn?t Fight Michigan Feeling

9/11

By Sam Webb...talks about how he felt like a part of the Michigan family last night and says he is 100% committed to Michigan and nothing could change his mind...hasn't told Brionte that he has committed yet but thinks that once he does he will be able to get him to switch to Michigan.

very good point, plus no offer from tOSU probably made it easier for him.

This should have been the 1st offer in the class of 2013. His sophomore film is outstanding.

That is cool that you can admit that. Over on the scout osu forum those buckeyes think D.T is not that good and is overrated. He is clearly a top 5 player in his class and Michigan got lucky that Osu is getting hit with trouble and Ohio States worst season in a while. If not for that he is a Osu commit right now.

You guys won't be down for more then this year so I am glad that this rivalry will be renewed as In my opinion Hoke to Michigan in my eyes will be like Tressell to you guys. Especially with Mattison on defense. Took Michigans defense with the same player ( plus a lockdown frosh corner in Countess) from 104 ranked to 14th ranked in the nation.

I think you may be getting carried away with one year of success. Coaches like Tressel don't come around too often.

Thomas' ranking is somewhere in between the "clearly top 5 player in his class" assessment and the "overrated" scout forum opinion.
Saw him play and was impressed with speed and coverage skills, however he was not the best RB on a disappointing Marlington team.
2 star Tennessee verbal commit Alden Hill was clearly the premier RB and earned the bulk of the Marlington carries.
If Thomas is a top 5 in the class, it would have to be top 5 defensive backs in the '13 class of Ohio and somewhere between #20 and #30 overall.
What concerns me is Thomas' influence with his cousin more than his contibution or skill for the TSUN team.

Why are comparing him to Hill? First Hill is a great prospect who is underrated in my eyes, but you do realize that Michigan wont be playing Thomas at RB. He is projected to play safety. To 247 rankings he is a high 4 star, 35th ranked in the country and 3rd in Ohio. He will be a top 10 player in ohio on every recruiting site.

I compared D Thomas to 2 star Alden Hill because they are teammates both line up as running backs and the Marlington coach this year chose to give Hill the large majority of carries.
I would be open to the idea that Hill is ranked too low, but your argument for Thomas seems to be based on the ability of recruiting sites (247) in accurately evaluating player potential.
You agree with my assesment for DT at safety/db, right now he is playing linebacker for Marlington.
I stated earlier and do not deny Thomas has the tools to be a contributor at D-1 level on defense.
that said, Have to ask you. . .
Have you personally seen Thomas play?

Or is you prediction for top 10 status in Ohio based on site buzz?

My firsthand observations are stated above and I stand by them. I have been wrong before and will be wrong again,
however,
Top 10 player predictions gain crediblity when they are based on actual game performance not highlight films, workouts, or recruiting site buzz.
Thomas got his high ranking, 3-4 star assessment based on a breakout Soph year, 2010.
Performance improvements ought to be evident as a highly valued player matures.

Canton Rep
Dymonte Thomas, Sophomore year production

Dymonte Thomas Running Back / Linebacker
Notes: 2010: All-Ohio Associated Press Division III Second-team ... All-Northeast Inland District First-team ... Repository All-Stark County First-team ... All-NBC First-team ... Shares team lead with six sacks among his 117 tackles to go with 1,488 yards rushing and 18 total TDs. Averages 9.8 yards a carry.

from Jamie Newberg BP post on 11/17, updated Thomas' 2011 Junior season stats.

On offense,Thomas rushed for 837 yards and 13 touchdowns on 118 carries (7.1 yards per carry) this season, and had five receptions for 105 yards with 1 TD.
On defense , he had recorded 102 tackles, one interception and a fumble recovery.

Just based on stats, DT regressed slightly in both offensive and defensive production between soph. and jr. years.

I haven't seen him in person. But if tape is good enough for coaches and recruiting analysts then it is good enough for me. You tell me not to look at tape to measure his talent but then you look at stats? I dont get the logic in that at all. Especially since his stats are only marginally worse. The kid is a gamer.

lmao stats over game film. When the defense/offense could of changed, or kid could of been banged up. But the defensive stats aren't to far off both years and decline in tackles could be from his coach having more trust to let him be a true cover safety and not a 4th linebacker.
