Yeah, I got out over my skis on that a little bit. She's gonna get another one right quick.

Look at recurve target bows with removable limbs. You'll be able to keep the same riser & replace the limbs with higher weight ones as she progresses.

You can also kid yourself pretending she'll one day be in the olympics rather than just playing out Bo & Luke Duke in the backyard.

An Elf on the Shelf is my idea of the right gift for Bay!

Well then you'll be happy to know there is an Elf on the Shelf in the Bay house now! (As if I had any say in it anyway) I just told my daughter to have fun with it and enjoy the cutesy story, but it's not an official part of the "Christmas canon", so don't worry about any rules, like "no touching" (c'mon it's a toy!)

Here's a couple Elfs for the Taos house, Merry Christmas dude!

So we came across our elf when decorating the Christmas tree on Sunday. The daughter was excited and seems into it, but she didn't find it odd that the little guy was boxed up with all the Christmas stuff in the basement for 11 months.

We'll see how long we can remember to move it around...

Actual conversation at my house on Sunday night:

lil' AKAK: "Why don't we have an elf on the shelf?"

Me: "Because it's stupid."

Mrs. AKAK "The dog would eat it anyway."
Little AKAK can use that at school...

Teacher: And where did you find your Elf today Little AKAK

Little AKAK: The dog ate my Elf

Teacher: I see Little AKAK has her dad's sense of humor

I guess we are doing a spin off of this... no elf, no shelf.. we just have toy godzilla's and one santa dino who keep getting into trouble.. yesterday they were sitting around a plate in the living room with the remains of oranges and banana's scattered about.... this morning they had alll the kids little musical instruments out and were playing the drums/guitar/piano in the living room.. no creepy toys spying on the kids, (mine is only 2 and 7 months) just let the 2 year imagine her toys are coming to life every night..

I was the son of a steel worker who didn't work the whole year. Mom had to go to work to keep food on the table. We had "one pot" meals twice a week. Spaghetti night was the highlight of the week for us three kids! So, an elf or two would have been quite the extravagance for that household! But, it's all good.

Oddly, it might shock you to find out that I find my reputation preceeds me around that school.

(@cincibuck , did I pass the irony quiz?)
