I was just thinking back to what my Sunday School's "be good for Christmas" bribery sort of deal. Around Thanksgiving, they gave us each a little wooden box and a bag of straw. Every day, you put one piece of straw in or took one out, depending on whether you'd been good that day. If you did something nice for someone, straw in; bad, straw out. Then later, they gave us little figurines of Jesus to put on the straw, and asked us to think about how we could do our best for Him. If you were good, He had a softer bed; if not, you made baby Jesus sad.

It's a tad bit on the brutal side for sensitive young kiddos (need MORE straw, MORE!), but better motivation than behaving because the gift-giver has a little spy, I think.

I once bribed Deety with a hamburger! She may have fed it to her cat.
