Emory Jones (QB Florida, transfer to Arizona St., transfer to Cincinnati)

IMO, this wasn't as bad as the Terrelle Pryor saga. And was just as bad as the Shaun Wade saga. Notice that we won't both... Gotta love crootin', it changes in the blink of an eye

And I absolutely forgot about the biggest recruiting drama that I can remember in Torrance Gibson. Now that was a kid that TRULY enjoyed the recruiting game and using social media to pull at multiple fanbases heart strings. Kid was a master puppeteer with his twitter account

Bama still doesn’t have a QB in this cycle and we just picked up a second QB? That would sure seem like writing on the wall normally.

I thought I heard we would “know more” after this last weekend.

Regardless, I’m glad to have this saga nearing it’s end. For some reason this drama has annoyed me much more than others. It’s been long enough. Are we going to the dance or not?

With no insider knowledge or expertise of any kind of any kind whatsoever, I'm going to say Jones sticks with tOSU. I think that he's just enjoying keeping people guessing. As for Baldwin, yes he's a strong back-up plan if Jones doesn't come, but he also is maybe secondly a "we're pretty sure that Burrow's not going to beat out Haskins and is going to transfer" plan and maybe thirdly a "we want to move, starting with Haskins, towards placing a greater premium on strong passing vs. dual-threat QBs and we're not sure that Martell has that in him" plan.

I think a lot of folks are just looking for an excuse to put him as going elsewhere so they can try to look smart when/if it happens.
I also think that Emory enjoys this game and attention. Just like many of recruits growing up in the social media age. If fans didn't have the heart for recruiting before, it's only going to get worse(and I honesly can't blame the kids)

I know I have read that Emory needs to progress between the ears more than with technique, I believe it was something about shaking off a bad play, being more of a leader, etc. Just being more mature on the field.

I’m saying this now, before a potential flip so it doesn’t sound like sour grapes if it happens. I have just wondered if Emory has the intangibles. Maybe he does. But there’s just something about how he carries himself and the way this recruitment has gone that makes me wonder if he can take the reins and command respect. I may be WAY off base here. He might have this in spades. I know a kid only has one chance to go through a recruiting process and he deserves a chance to enjoy it. But it just seems like something is missing to me. That “it” factor. Maybe he has plenty of it and it’s just not obvious to me. JT clearly has it. People talk about Haskins as being “their boy” and he has some quiet swag to him. And Tate oozes it. Like I said, maybe Emory can rally the troops in the weight room and lead his team on an epic comeback as well as anyone. And I’m not saying how a kid comes across in an interview or handles his recruitment is a big indicator. I can’t put my finger on what it is and hope I’m wrong. But there’s just always been something not quite there to me. Everyone has their own style though and I’m probably way off base. These are young guys making a life changing decision, I get that. I guess I’ll have a better idea when he shows his cards finally. He’s a major talent and I sure hope he’s a Buckeye.

Edit: this kid has a ton of talent and I’m not bashing on him. He seems to carry himself a little different than other QBs but that doesn’t have to translate into a bad thing. I’d just like to see him assert himself one way or the other.

He is the carbon copy of Jalen Hurts. I want to pass on him badly, because I don't think he makes anyone better and will struggle in big games like Hurts and Barrett. I would love to flip Fields from Georgia, who reminds me of Mariota.
