Espin. Over Signing Bowl. Rematch Jan. 9th. Satan Vs the Mad Hatter

The purpose of the BCS is to make money for the BCS bowls. Period.

The best way to crown a national champion is the old way - the one where there was lots of disagreement possible. Because there is no real way to identify the "best team." A playoff sure won't do it, just as it doesn't in the NCAA Big Dance in basketball. Does anyone seriously think Butler was one of the two "best" teams in the nation last season?

No, and there have been a few Super Bowl champions who weren't the best team either...but they "survived and advanced."

BCS is a one game playoff based upon the two presumed best teams. And yeah, it's all a cash grab. Really hard to get up in arms over the teams playing in it.

What does "Champion" mean? Best team? Good luck ever trying to find that answer at the end of a season. Team that survived a playoff? That's more doable, but as we've discussed won't happen in FBS for a while.

Just relax and enjoy the chaos. :)

Anybody see the sign in the background?

"My Dad says Michigan used to be good"
Made me re-watch it to find that...

The beginning has a signs that read:
  • We love you Coach Tressel RIP
  • Craig James 4 Senataur (paid for by ESPN)
  • The Dead Pirate Leach
  • Longhorn Network TV & Crying Aggie
  • Things I Dislike: Sharks, Rain, Rutgers

Well, maybe the purpose of the BCS is to crown a clear champion; however, the reason that they utilize the bowls in this process to make money for conferences, (i.e. BCS teams) not the bowls, etc. See link:

I don't really think that the bowls themselves actually make money; however, they are probably funded enough to cover expenses. Their real gain is for the tourist businesses (hotels, resturants, bars, rental car agencies, and attractions, etc.) in the cities that host the bowls.

I had to watch it a second time just to hear it. I was laughing too hard at the pictures. The Craig James and Rutgers pics made laugh out loud (LOL).
