Ex-Wolverine BS (all merged - including the tearful goodbyes)

EW- As an outsider on this board my first thought when you showed up was how can you be a an EW then become an OSU fan !! There seems to be way to much hatred to go from one to the other because if you were a true Wolverine fan then you would flat out hate OSU so how can you really become a OSU fan?
Heck maybe I am wrong but it is my take on it....

If you are a MICH fan then own up to it like I do as an ND fan and get ready for the abuse! LOL!! My chicklets are like a yoyo here!

First, in regards to the countdown, my options were to set it to something new, or remove it entirely until the season is over. Honestly, I put no real thought into it, as I was dialed in on an AOL account just a few days after the lightning strike, and during the mess with Frances. Counting down until the Michigan game doesn't make any of the games between now and then any less important, nor does it mean any of us are in a rush for the season to end. So the question is, are you over-analyzing a meaningless line of text because you don't understand your fellow fans, or do you just want to start another hollow debate?

Secondly, in regards to the 'dog house', lol, what the hell are you talking about? You know, that 'Drama Queen' title fit you nicely. I know you didn't like it, but the truth does sometimes hurt.

Finally, I just want to remind you that you're welcome to be here, but you're not welcome to stir the pot for your own amusement or for the sake of your (ridiculous and flawed, in my own personal opinion) thesis. Feel free to discuss any problem you have with BP when and as you like, but do expect people to discuss problems they have with you as well.

As far as you having more at stake with the scUM game than others here, it's hard to imagine that. Your decision as to whether or not you would be an OSU fan hinged on your acceptance and financial aid award, as I understood it. I won't question the depth of your loyalty and passion for the Buckeyes, but I will say that you shouldn't make any assumptions about intensity relative to your 'peers' here on the board.

You don't get the point. The rivalry with Michigan was built not only out of a mutual border, but out of the fact that this game means so much to the national championship. We know that nearly every year, one team goes in with National Championship or Big Ten Championship implications. This game isn't important because we don't like their uniforms (they suck), their stadium (it's a crap hole), their fight song (makes my ears bleed), or their fans (arrogant pricks)...We hate scUM because they are what stand between us and so many National Titles. We can't wait to play them, because that is when we are truly tested and get to see what kind of team we are. Would I rather be 9-2 and beat scUM or 10-1 and lose to them? Heck yeah! Mostly for revenge of past dissapointments...but our greatness as a team is not mutually exclusive of beating the team up north...our greatness is often ACHEIVED by beating them.
OB, I did get it. I understand what you're saying. You forget, I grew up on the other side of the rivalry. UM fans don't hate OSU anywhere near as much as OSU fans hate UM, but the fact still remains that the rivalry is as strong as it is BECAUSE the two teams are so great.

I guess the difference is that you would be hard pressed to find a UM fan who would give up a national championship to beat OSU, while it seems that pretty much every OSU fan would give up the title to beat UM.

It's fascinating to me.

The tribe has spoken.

You're all fascinating people, you really are.

I never knew many OSU fans growing up (obviously), so it has been interesting to get to know you and your mentality. It's completely foreign to me, and as much as I try to understand it, it's really very harsh and unwelcoming. Thankfully, the people I have met here on campus have been, while not as knowledgeable, quite a bit nicer. They seem to like the idea of "turning" someone from the other side, while here it seems to be pretty much "insult the guy because of where he used to go."

Several times since I have been here, I have found myself reading some of the things that people have said, and thought to myself "that was way over the line...I don't know that I want to be associated with people who would treat someone they didn't know like that" and found it affecting my view of OSU. That's not a good feeling. I am here for six years. And honestly, I love everything about this place, so I don't want to feel like that.

The bottom line is that I just simply don't fit in. Part of it is that I lack that testosterone-driven assholish streak, where I take out my failures on other people and live my unseen glories vicariously through a football team. And part of it is that I grew on the weak side of the rivalry, where I didn't learn to hate the other side so much, and thus I can't comprehend why every fiber of your being is devoted to hating a college.

Someone here once told me that I would never be a "true Buckeye." He went on to describe a "true Buckeye" as...well...basically what I laid out in the paragraph above.

Well, to that I will say that I agree. I am not a "true Buckeye" in that sense of the term. But you know what? That's a good thing. There are probably 100 of you in the world, and you all post here. It's good that you found your niche and you have your forum, but I don't fit in here and I never will. You treat me with undue venom, you attack me for things you ignore in others, and the simple fact of the matter is that you do it because of where I went to undergrad.

Good luck, and don't take any shit from arrogant ass Wolverine fans. Nothing is more pathetic than someone who takes the arrogant tone of their students without having that sheepskin.

And if anyone ever wants to go plant a buckeye tree in the Diag at UM, let me know... :wink2:

I would qualify myself as one of the least confrontational people on this board. Heck, I even go out of my way to be a peacemaker sometimes...The truth of the matter on this one is that you have got to be the biggest attention whore I have ever had the priveledge of not meeting. Dear Lord on high, I swear you take everything so personally as if the world is out to get you. Everyone on this board (especially myself) has a viewpoint now and then that is completely asinine to everyone else, and they get drilled for it. Thats the fun of message boards, even the most far-fetch viewpoint can be heard with a maximum penalty of being called names. If you can't handle a little disagreement, you are in for a rude awakening in life. I would concur with your opinion that everyone has a different personality on these boards. This is near completly anonymous and people can take on a more aggressive style of sociological interaction. Let it slide off of you...nearly everyone else is capable of it.

The truth of the matter is that a few posters, like yourself, are turning this into cheerleading camp. One cheerleader calls says another doesn't have spirit and she goes off and cries. You've sold your manhood in exchange for someone to try to coddle you and boost your ego. I'm just sick of it...if you want to leave..DO IT! Don't sit around and talk about it in hopes someone will try and talk you out of it because we won't. If you want to be a man, I'd love to see you here and get your opinions...if you want to be a emo bi-polar narcissist baby...then just freakin leave already.

Yawn. ZZZZ.

Wow, I just had a horrible dream that I was a testosterone- driven asshole who yelled at a $5/hr retail clerk and made him cry over a bean bag chair. Then, and this was the worst part, I posted a request for legal assistance in returning my defective bean bag chair on a message board on which I "was trying to fit in."

Thank God it was only a dream. No one would ever be that idiotic in real life.
