As is being stated here, the reliability of these times is highly questionable. I was merely posting what they were reporting his 40-yard dash time at. Clearly haw was reported running a 4.21 (which probably wasn't totally accurate), so its not really a stretch to see them inaccurately time galloway at 4.19.

I was merely posting who has posted the fastest time. But it probably was biased or mistimed.

I would still say Ginn's faster even if Galloway did run a 4.19 without fudging the clock.

Sorry I'll go back and rephrase it. I guess I just meant from the only thing we have to go by, Galloway wins. Plus track times are simply that, track times. That's why I'd take Ginn on my team. But I see how I wasn't clear. My bad.

the 40 yd dash needs to be standardized. here's how they should do it.

- it must be indoors (this removes the wind factor)
- it must be run on turf
- the player must be wearing his full uniform, including helmet
- the player lines up in the 3 point stance
- the timing MUST BE AUTOMATIC. hand times are not official.
- it must be filmed
- the location where the dash took place must be noted (some turfs are faster than others)

you could also have a B version in which the athlete runs wearing only a pair of shorts.

I agree for the most part except for these two assertions. First, each position has different equipment, pad sizes, and pad needs. Also, why line everyone up in a 3 pt stance when some positions never require this during a game? Seems like a handicap to most skill positions.

The 40 is basically standardized at combines...everyone runs on the same surface, in the same conditions, and in the same uniform. However, many of the more publicized times are done at home school sessions...a quick watch can have a variety of advantages in that instance. If a kid thinks he runs a 4.3, it can do wonders for a work ethic and confidence level.

I'm around a good bit of speed every year...In 6 years, I've seen one 4.3 guy (4.33 on my watch and 4.35 on the other coach's clock during spring assessment). I'm not saying there aren't burners out there, but many coaches use a quick watch to their advantage.

A few things... regardless of who's sprinting, Ginn's the fastest guy in uniform. I don't think there's an argument there.

Whoever said they're not sure if someone's faster in the NFL... watch Randy Moss much?

I'd put Ginn up against Moss any day of the week. The kid is a natural sprinter. I have watched and participated in Track & Field the majority of my life AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE WITH BETTER SPRINTER FORM. The only knock on him is that he dips his head or leans it to one side (this may be because he is not running in a straight line)sometimes when he has a football uniform on. He doesn't do that when he runs track.

Ted Ginn trains for the 100M not the 40 YARD DASH. Watch the catch he makes on the slant route vs. Michigan State. The safety keeps up with him for 40 yards and then Ginn pulls away like the guy is standing still. On long pass -plays when Ginn gets seperation if the ball is caught he is GONE!!! Nobody is catching that kid from behind unless the ball is underthrown.

Ginn is one of the 3 fastest Football players I have ever seen. Willie Gault(1984 Gold Medalist in the 4x100 realy)and Deione Sander are the only guys I have seen as fast as him.

Ginn has agility because he runs hurdles. Thats why he has all those moves. WHEN YOU RUN AT HIS VELOCITY OVER 36 INCH HURDLES YOU HAVE TO HAVE GOOD FEET. Thats what seperates Ted Ginn from most track athletes that play football.

Ginns a long strider. He doesn't look that fast until you see him run past someone. His leg turnover isn't as fast as Reggie Bush but he gets more per stride and thats the difference.

All in all people can talk all the shit they want. I have coached track and I have ran track at a very high level. The kid is simply a "once in a lifetime player" for most coaches. When you see him run you are watching greatness. IMO he is the next Heisman Trophy winner for OSU. When that young man gets 10-15 pounds more lean mass he gonna get even faster.

I think most players who played with Darrell Green would have something to say about that....including Deione. 4 time NFL fastest man competition winner.
