Favorite Play-by-Play Announcer?

One announcer I can't stand is John Madden aka. Mr. Obvious (ie. "The team with the most points will more than likely win the game.") I don't understand how the guy gets as much hype as he does. Honestly, I think that Al Michaels is a thousand times the announcer that Madden is. Of course, Michaels is a pretty good broadcaster.


Anyone, that can make a game exciting, get into the game, and share the same passion for the sport that I do is a pretty damn good play-by-play anoouncer, in my book.

I used to hate Dick Vitale... a few months ago I got the chance to sit down in an interview with him (I wasn't the interviewer but the producer). I'm not crazy about his schtick but the guy does a lot for charity and if you can hear him when he's "off the mic" then you might realize that he's actually a real decent guy. I think his personality has taken on a life of its own and most time he comes off like an ass but he's the one that's created it.

Yeah, he is a really good guy. However, Jimmy Carter was a realy good guy, too, but he was an awful President. Unfortunately, nice people aren't always that well liked at their occupation, quite often. Dickie V. was a good announcer, but it's painful for us to hear him keep on going. I think he probably knows that his time is about up, but the guy obviously loves college basketball and what he does, and is probably having a great time doing what he loves to do.
