How was Penn Station Kinch?
I didn't make it. Maybe lunch today though.

Okay, fun slightly related fact: One of the things I missed about Ohio most in the Northeast was good gyros. In Boston they would come inside the pita, as opposed to a wrap around, and have tahini, etc. Like a middle eastern gyro. WTF!?

In NYC I lived for a while in Astoria. The largest Greek community outside Greece. Again, the gyros sucked compared to Ohio. And they called them Jai-ros (I don't know how to phonetically write that, but you know what I mean). Again, these are Greek people. WTF!?

Well, it turns out, since in NYC many people don't say "subs," they say "heroes," the normal pronunciation of gyro was too easily confused with hero, so they just said "fuck it, we'll change it."

Anyway, I hope Penn Station is good. I also really liked Grinders back in the day, though they are fading away.

Oh, and I had would could maybe be described as a sub at Katalina. It is on 3rd and. . . Pennsylvania or Michigan or so.

It is my type of "all natural." Instead of organic kale or something, though I'm sure they have that, they have a sub that is 10,000 calories of all natural full fat butter and cheese and meat. They also have a nice outdoor eating area, well that is really their only area, not sure what they do in the winter, but it is a great place. A little hipster-y.

Edit: okay, maybe it is a sandwich and not a sub, but this is what I had:

Mazatlan Slow-Roasted Pork & Egg

Slow-roasted Beeler’s pork in Katalina’s secret sauce, plus two fried eggs, local Amish provolone, avocado, roasted red peppers & aioli on on two HUGE pieces of toasted Old World loaf.

Why in the hell would the Amish be good at making provolone? Are they secretly Italian?

Chicago Subway closes after employee wipes counter with mop in viral video

One Subway location in Chicago has had its license suspended after video footage of an anonymous employee wiping one of the restaurant’s counters with a dirty mop surfaced and went viral on social media.

On Sept. 26, the sandwich shop's store in the Englewood neighborhood near 69th Street and Ashland was closed by the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), CBS Chicago reports.

While a spokesperson for Subway was not immediately available to offer further comment on the license suspension, the owner of the location reportedly told CBS that the employee in the viral video is no longer working at the restaurant.

As noted by Fox 13, the same Chicago Subway location failed two health inspections in a row in 2017 for “failing to meet proper food storage requirements” while employees also, problematically, would wash their hands at work using only water.

Never been in a Subway with bulletproof glass protecting the sandwich artists.
