By the way, did you ever have any luck with Massey-Fergusons?

One of the few non-John Deere vehicles we had was a Massey-Ferguson font-end lifter. It was great for cleaning manurer out of our sheep and horse pens. It also worked nicely for moving implements around the farm.

As for the older models, we still have and use my great-grandpa's 1939 Model B, which looks something like this:

We still have to crank start it when we want to use it. Hence, I always preferred my grandpa's 1949 model, on which my dad thankfully installed an electric starter.

Wow. A thread about tractors- and it wasn't even started by Donny. The closest I've ever come to appreciating a tractor is wishing I had one to mow the lawn on a very hot humid summer day.

I worked at John Deere's headquarters in Moline, IL for a few years. I moved from Cleveland for the job, so you can imagine some of the culture shock I experienced. The first summer I was there, I went to a parade with some friends on Memorial Day (or something) and they actually drove combines and big-ass tractors in the parades like you see fire trucks and old cars. I was amazed....
