2023 FL DE Damon Wilson (Georgia Signee)

Yeah it would. It's not his money. He's actually leading an NIL, and we're still having issues that we're talking about. He should be able to work magic from his NIL perch, but not much has been done.

That's a matter of preference, because I'm not a fan of CFB outside of OSU and a few elite teams across the country(so maybe like 3-4 other teams I'll bother watching). I don't think anything about CFB is better, its JV football, IMO, and NFL is varsity. It's better quality, and not as much childish emotions get in the way in NFL like they do in CFB. But to each their own, and there's a world where both have success and can feed off of each other. But IDK if the NFL wants to bother with CFB other than the combine and after season bowl games
I mean maybe but I find NFL football boring and everyone more or less runs the same systems.

Sure NFL players are better, bigger, faster and stronger.... but it's no where near as exciting as college IMO.

Not been the best year for Birm.

He was talking about potential NIL impacts forever yet was bullish for months on Keeley and Wilson yet seems blindsided they will end up at Bama & Georgia.

Maybe he was operating under the assumption that we would get our act together and realize that having some kid with a large trust fund wasn’t optimal.

Huge miss, crap. Unless we surprisingly land Keeley or Matayo (and even assuming Mickens lands here), DE is an issue for this class. I am wondering how much is NIL or the recruits knowing LJ Sr will not be around full time during their stint at OSU. Maybe it is both combined, but recruits and their parents can do the math on how long he will be around. I say that because it might be time to just announce the succession plan and start making introductions, you know that LJ Sr's longevity is likely being brought up by other schools. Wilson just seems like one that we had pretty much locked up and just faded off on...and please nobody put the Barksdale lock photo up, it is too soon.

You’re not wrong, he has been off this year. But you also have to figure that this was the 1st full cycle with NIL, and I don’t think he thought that the numbers would get so high on recruits, and I’m also sure he thought OSU would get their stuff together in the NIL game

Looks like Mickens is the only sure thing. And then there’s a small chance with MU.
And Wilson’s family got sold on UGA’s staff. And then there’s also the NIL offer(rumored: 750k). Now IDK if these deal numbers are for 1year or multiple

Kurelic said that Wilson but for the money, loved the Buckeyes, and probably would have picked the Bucks.

Money talks

Anxious to see how many guys after a year of money at a University that was not their #1 choice, will regret their choice?

Sign me up as a guy NOT for inducing HS kids with $$$.

If you think I am on a high horse, that is fine, but OSU is still an institution of higher learning.

Then we have to be ok with not being competitive once in the 12 team playoff. We won't be the same if we aren't getting top 5 classes.

I think unfortunately needed to learn the hard way that the model they set up, though thought out is not going to work.
