Miami commit Dexter Williams recaps his visit to Ohio State

Urban Meyer and his coaching staff are hosting some of the nation's best players over the course of the next two months. There have already been some big visitors this summer thanks to the Columbus NFTC camp and the first one day camp Saturday, which netted two commitments for the Scarlet and Gray.

Yesterday another big visitor was on campus in the form of Orlando (FL) West Orange running back Dexter Williams, who is currently committed to Miami.

Williams was very impressed with what he saw on his first ever trip to Columbus.

"It was a long, tiring trip getting there," Williams said. "I've seen pictures of the campus in the past, but I didn't know it was so big. When I got there, I was amazed at the campus. When I stepped off the bus I saw Coach (Stan) Drayton and Coach (Mark) Pantoni. They basically took me around all day and showed me how everything runs."

While in town, he got to spend a lot of time with Ohio State running backs coach Stan Drayton, who would be his position coach if he decided to play his college football in Columbus.

"We talked a lot about football and what Ohio State has to offer me both on and off the field," Williams stated. "He was saying that Ohio State is very big in business and that I would be a good fit for Ohio State with my size, skills, and talent. He was making sure I felt comfortable and didn't feel too far from home because he knows that Ohio State was a long ways from Florida."

And the theme of 17yo RBs who've signed to schools and being disappointed because their RB coaches left continues...

The first poster on 11w said the kids need to grow up.

Can I just say that these jaded [Mark May] heads need to shut their big mouths. All growing up, it's pounded into kids heads that they need to be honest, to let their yes be yes, and to have integrity. And the issue is black and white. Most examples have no nuance.

And for the first time in their lives, they're misled. It's too nuanced for them to understand. For many star football players, it's the first time the world hasn't revolved around them.

It's a lesson we all learn, and many of us are lucky enough to not get that lesson on a public stage. Just shut up and let them work through everything. We don't need to listen to people saying, "LOOK HOW MUCH MORE MATURE I AM THAN THIS 18 YEAR OLD!!" like it's something to be proud of.

All absolutely true, and we would all do better if we did what you suggest. But it's also important to remember that most of us sports message board types never accomplished anything substantive on the athletic fields ourselves, and so are very envious of highly-touted HS football stars whose names appear with glowing commentary for months on Yahoo, Scout, ESPN, etc.

So give us a break, pal.

But if I can't look down on the people who look down on high school football players, then I have nothing to make myself feel better about my life!!
