Goal-line technology to be trialled in England friendly - BBC

Goal-line technology will be tested at Wembley Stadium on June 2nd when England take on Belgium. Hawk-Eye, one of the two finalists in the testing phase will be used during this game. The match officials will have no access to the data and the trial will have no impact on any potential goal-line decisions. Hawk-eye uses six camera's per goal and these will be installed at Wembley within the next week.

Posted to Hazard's twitter a short time ago...

I'm signing for the champion's league winner.

This bidding war still isn't over, IMO... This tweet is just begging for ManU/ManCity/Chelsea to reach further into their pockets and continue bidding. The Manchester's can't afford to have a dominant Chelsea squad running a muck in the Champions League AND Premier League.

Hulk apparently leaving Porto to join Chelski. They are just flouting FFP, and I'm sure Roman doesn't care. It's really bothering to me that sugar daddies can come in and buy clubs, and treat them like real life FIFA 12 and buy whoever they want. Whereas clubs like United (obv without all the debt heaped on them by the Glazer family) have built on being successful for long periods of time. Sorry for the rant, but it bugs the shit out of me, and it's why I find US Soccer way more exciting. We can't just buy a bunch of players to make us the best; we have to build up through the youth system.

Sorry for the rant, but it bugs the shit out of me, and it's why I find US Soccer way more exciting. We can't just buy a bunch of players to make us the best; we have to build up through the youth system.

A few things:

  • As a fan of a club that would likely stand to benefit from FFP being enforced, I don't even think or talk about it. There's no use in complaining about it because it might as well not exist. First of all, there is ZERO chance that the rule will actually be used to bar big spending clubs from European competition. There's too much on the line for EUFA in terms of viewership and sponsorship dollars.
  • Secondly, the loopholes in the rule are so big you could drive a truck thru them. So the rule supposedly bans well-heeled owners from dipping into their vast personal fortunes to run their clubs? Well what's to stop them from having the club sponsored by a company that they also own, for well above market rate? If push comes to shove, that's what will happen.
  • I'm not convinced yet that Hulk is that big a deal. I think Hazard and Sahin will be great for them, but let's not forget that this is a team that finished sixth in the PL, and the man who carried them to the two trophies that they won is gone. I think they'll certainly be better than sixth next season - especially if they have a manager for the entire year that their players are willing to play for. To put it as Dennis Green might though, I'm not ready to "crown their ass" just yet.
  • Finally, money does not guarantee success and there is still room for teams to compete by scouting well and spending wisely. Liverpool have spent like mad, and look where they finished. Newcastle have hardly spent anything, and look where they finished.

In a week the president Silvio Berlusconi will meet with the emir of Dubai Arcore Al-Maktum, that just a couple of seasons ago, proposed to enter into a partnership to detect 30% of the club and pay around 500 million euros.

If this happens, look for Milan to be in the discussion for the next 3-4 UEFA Champions League's.

This looks like 1) more spending money, 2) more marketability (possibly a AC Milan resort coming to the UAE, similar to Real Madrid's resort), and 3) less power to Berlusconi who hasn't done shit for this team since stepping down as Prime Minister of Italy.

Evidently PSG has made a reported 50 million euro bid for Silva, and Galliani couldn't resist. I hope this one isn't true. That absolutely cripples this Milan team.

Not the greatest site, but google Thiago Silva and this new rumor is all over the place. [censored] PSG and their renegade/Man City type spending tactics.

Read about this yesterday, but didn't put much thought into it being true. I guess I was wrong as the rumors have persisted. I also read that PSG are on the verge of signing Ezequiel Lavezzi from Napoli.

The one thing that made me think the rumor wasn't true is Man City offered the same thing, and I'm sure Tevez' name was involved in their bid. So if they accepted any deal, it would be with Man City, and that just isn't going to happen.

On a side note, I'm hearing now that Milan has made a bid for Dede at around 12 mil

Apparently there's SOME weight to the T-Silva to PSG rumors. But mainly for the French side. I don't like the way this is going.

Also hearing Cassano wants to go back to Sampdoria. It could get ugly for Milan in the next month.

EDIT: For Cassano, it's more outrage over the rumor of TS 33 going to PSG.

Cassano: "The Milan board has to admit to us players that we can't compete for the Scudetto and the CL, if Thiago Silva leaves us."

Cassano: "I haven't spoken to Ibra in a month, but if he gets angry about the sale of Thiago Silva, then I will agree with him."

And the domino effect.

Ibrahimovic: "If Thiago leaves, I'll hand a transfer request".

Galliani left Paris with no deal in place for Thiago Silva. Sounds like PSG are trying to buy both Silva & Ibrahimovic in a mega deal. It all hinges on whether or not Silva will be sold. Ibrahimovic sounds ready to leave if Silva is sold as does Antonio Cassano. Doesn't sound to good for AC Milan despite all the money they would receive.

Arsenal are close to signing Olivier Giroud from French champions Montpellier. This could have a big impact on Younes Belhanda despite the player saying he is staying at Montpellier even though a variety of big European clubs have expressed interest in him as well.
