Freddy Adu Leaving U.S

Messi18Man

Senior
Now that hes 18 and legal to go overseas (Europe) looks like hes leaving the MLS after he was drafted at 14. He's finalizing a 5 year deal with Portuguese side Benfica, who finished 3rd in the Portuguese league last year. He finally got his wish to play in Europe, and hes playing for a pretty good team too. They are in the UEFA Champions League basically ever year, so he is going to be playing against some of the best players in the world. Good luck to Freddy, and hopefully this will make him a better player, as well as a better U.S.A International player.

Its a great situation for Adu, He gets to play against better competition and play in front of immensely more passionate fans in Europe. Its nothing but good news for Freddy, and for the U.S Mens National Team who now has an 18 year old future star playing in Europe already. I wouldn't be shocked to see Jozy Altidore head to Europe either when he turns 18 in November, or a little bit after.
