Hoops stars at the reins of OSU football
By RUSTY MILLER
AP Sports Writer

Conley will be assisted with the Scarlet squad by hoops teammates Cook, Mark Titus, Othello Hunter and Kyle Madsen. Jamar Butler, also a starting guard, will be the head coach of the Gray team, with help from Ivan Harris, David Lighty, Danny Peters and Matt Terwilliger.

?This is going to be a great experience being down on the field at the ?Shoe coaching the football players,? said Butler, who will be a senior. ?I?ve played football but never coached ? but I?m still going to out-coach Mike.?

They?ll actually call the plays, off a list given to them by the football coaches.

I think Butler can play at the next level after next year. Playing the offguard this year I think has helped his potential draft status for next year. Anyhow, he's my favorite player!

Talked to his high school coach about 3 weeks ago and the NBA scouts love his size in terms of muscle and bulk, and he has the range to be able to knock down the NBA 3...Also Butler has ability in the open court that he will show a little more in the NBA when you won't see the zone presses and if he gets on a team where he could get out in transistion and run...

IMO he is a 2nd round pick next year...

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Guard Jamar Butler, the only starter expected to return to the Ohio State men's basketball team next season, is pondering whether to join three teammates and enter the NBA draft before the entry deadline Sunday, a source confirmed last night. Butler's father, Melton, did not confirm or deny the rumor when contacted yesterday at home in Lima, Ohio. "I don't even want to discuss that," he said.

I like Jamar's game, and I think he's been a great Buckeye for three years now. That said, to the extent that he's not projected to be drafted in either round, I don't know why he's even considering entering the draft.

I love Butler as a college player but I do not feel his game and skills translate well to the NBA.......I would be shocked if this doesn't turn out to be much to do about nothing......with a good to great senior season he could possibly play himself into a early second round pick in my opinion. If the goal is to get evaluated, then that is a smart decision.
