A human sending someone to murder another human having no impact on their interpersonal relationship isn’t the same thing as underestimating how dangerous an animal might be.

I don’t understand your point.
I see now that you were probably referring to my previous post about how there was absolutely no reason for Dany to go from surveying her incredibly easy victory over a city that was in the midst of surrendering to destroying the entire city - even with them doing a fairly decent job setting up her decent into a mental position where she might have done something rash.

Your point was that wild animals do unpredictable things sometimes - to which I respond that a main character behaving like a manta ray isn’t a rebuttal to the claim that the writing is bad.
I guess Michael murdering Fredo because Michael was feeling really stressed, what with taking over the family business and all, and Fredo wasn’t really being nice enough to him recently is just as good a reason for murder as a deeply personal betrayal... because animals do weird stuff sometimes... oh, and Michael also burned down his own house.

Sometimes things happen dude. That is life, both here and in Westeros.
Yeah, but people don’t make movies or television shows about stuff just happening because it’s not interesting.

Literally the entire point of writing is to set up compelling reasons for why things happen.

And like I said, they set up her decent just fine. But to go from an easy victory and surveying the city you have wanted to control your entire life in the midst of surrendering to destroying said city for no discernible reason is just garbage.

Alright, well I had a MUCH different take from the episode. That was by far my episode of GOT, although I get some of the criticisms. The show is constantly withholding and they finally gave. When the final word of last episode was "Dracrys" of course you knew that fire was going to rain down. But the manner that it went down was absolutely perfect imo. Dany just lighting up the city brutally was not entirely unexpected, but it was awesome to watch.

Yeah the scorpions were ineffective this episode but it worked in the last episode because it was a surprise. Now Dany could anticipate it and plan accordingly. The fear in King's Landing before the attack and Cersei's stubbornness were just perfect. And the visuals to me were just incredible, if you cannot enjoy those battle scenes, I don't know what to tell you. All the money they saved in the Battle at Winterfell was worth what they spent on this episode. From the dragon burning up the Iron Fleet, to the initial breach of the walls, to the absolute destruction of the city. Then seeing Jon Snow, Gray Worm and Sir Dabos lead the charge in was just amazing. Doth Raki, Winterfell, The Unsullied, all together laying siege to the city was freaking awesome. I honestly thought Dany might call off the dogs for a minute but I am glad they had her go through with it like you thought she would. When her aide says "Dracrys" and was all about innocent life, you know she was going to do it for her. I actually loved the utter domination, that was actually a little unexpected because I figured there would be some twist and there wasn't.

There were some things I would have changed. The whole dialogue between Euron and Jamie was really stupid. The fight was pretty cool, but the conclusion was odd. Of course we wanted Arya to take out Cersei, but she got the Night King already and guessing by the ending, she is going to have a blaze of glory to go out in. Then of course you have the unknown of what Jon Snow does after Dany just lit the world up. This episode was everything I wanted and then some.

Remember how in Breaking Bad for the first few seasons of the show they set up that Walter White was a generally good person that just wanted to provide for his family, but he had a dark side that was revealed more and more over time as he showed that he was willing to do whatever it took to get what he wanted.

And eventually over the course of the show his original motivation to help his family was overshadowed by his dark side and his drive to build his drug empire, because he was good at it and it gave him purpose.

And remember how his dark side consuming him caused him to lose his center as a human which ultimately caused him to lose everything he cared about - his friends and family - and he was left isolated and alone and hurting.

And remember at the end of the show how he still tried to achieve his goal by setting up his family financially, but before going to save Jesse he went off and murdered a bunch of innocent people for absolutely no discernible reason because, you know, they totally established that he had a dark side and was isolated and at a really low point in his life.

That was really well done.

I'd have killed off Jon Snow and Arya bye having Dany burn them up along with the King's Landing plebians.
Cersi and Jaime death was metaphorical as they experience the collapse of their world. But I was hoping for smores. Melt them in one last fit of Dany rage.
Tyrian? He's a survivior.
Dany and Drogon fly off into a red sunset.

Soldiers including Dany overcome with bloodlust? RR always makes a point about "the cost of war" being great story writing but I think he's shaking his head about the ending. "They shit the bed!"
It was a thoroughly mediocre effort.
Dracarys!

She's a Targarian, man. "No discernible reason" is what happens.

This whole series has been based on Targaryen madness and specifically, people being around Dany to temper her bad impulses. You've seen hints of it in season 6 and 7 and the revelations with Jon, Jorah and Missandei's deaths just kicked open the door to what was already there. She's the product of incest, the road to insanity was never going to be a long one in either case.

HBO Now subscriber here, I was streaming the episode. Anyone else have big pauses throughout the episode?
I get that there are tens of millions streaming it and the servers were probably toast, but I started at 9:10pm EST just to hopefully get past the initial crunch.

Epic... could be 80 minutes of the most awesomeness ever...

Should be wild... with Jon Snow and Tyrion knowing Dany is now off the deep end... he has no choice but to remove her... (or will she try to have Drogan kill Jon)??
Greyworm has to go too... too brutal ... he pissed Jon off on that scumbag move nailing unarmed folks

Hound vs Mountain was everything we expected...

I can't be the only one who thought Jon vs. Greyworm was going to happen right then and there.
