Game Thread Game Six: Ohio State 35, Michigan State 24 (final)

Hah. I was about six feet from you then. Row 7, Seat 17. Cris Carter Pro Bowl jersey.
lol, I was teh cameraman who kept telling the whiners to shut up. I can deal with disgruntled fans, but we had a few over the top ones (like the guy who would scream unbelievable after every play, including when they would get penalized for 15 yards, he would still be upset). Nice to meet you without knowing :)

On a sidenote from todays game Indiana is playing decent football right now! it won't be AS EASY as usual but we'll win! Today was an Ugly game all around but hey its a win, and we're that much closer to hopefully winning the rest of our games! I can't wait to see D'andrea get out there and run around a bit with the first team defense!! He'll add tons of depth!

Jenkins stepped up big today (I thought he would be tested a lot today). Our entire DL was extremely disruptive today. Great work by the lesser praised Patterson, Richardson, Cotton, Pitcock, Green and others.

Nice to see the screen pass come into play again. I thought tressel's mike had been turned off last week when that play got called.

I watched the game without being near the computer, and then made the game clips, so I haven't seen anything posted since game time, so hopefully I won't up end up beating a dead horse here. Had MSU won the game, it would've been been because we gave it to them. Four turnovers to none will nearly always lose you the game. On top of that stupid penalties. Carpenter's roughing the pass gaff after we stopped them inside our five and gave them four more down (on which they scored) could've been the true turning point in the game. And if I see Hamby jump offsides again, I'm sending him a 20-pound pile of wet dog shit in the mail. Lastly, I'm not a defensive coach but it sure seemed like our middle was wide open time and time again once Stanton broke the pocket...they kept picking up first down after first down by tossing over the LB and under the coverage. Some team is going to exploit the shit out of that if we don't fix it.

But after that, you have to give it up for the defense. Being out of the field for sooooo long in the first half after an inept offensive performance and all those turnovers just about any other defense would've folded...not ours. We are so fortunate to have such a superior defense.

Looking at the box score, exactly four players touched the ball on offense: Smith, Pittman, Holmes, and Ginn. Obviously, it's great that the ball is getting into the hands of the playmakers, but at some point, somebody will take away these players and somebody else will have to step it up. I'm obviously not complaining too mightily, just thinking that it would be nice to see Gonzo, Hall, Hamby, etc. get the ball every now and then to keep the defense cognizant of our other weapons.

In comparison, MSU had eleven players handle the ball at some point. I'm sure part of that is that they ran a hell of a lot more plays than we did, and thus has to sub in backups a little more often.

C'mon people, I cannot be the only person who noticed that on our 8th sack of the day, Brent Muffburglar said "THAT is the Buckeye's FIRST sack of the day!!".

I heard that and figured he was calling the other sacks "Coverage Sacks" as he mentioned at one point earlier in the game. I still enjoy them broadcasting the games more than any other regular ABC crew.
