Game thread: USC 34, Notre Dame 31 (Final)

So you are going to be the ref with the balls to make that call in a game of that magnitude? I doubt it......
Should the refs be celebrated for fouling up the situation and losing control of the game? Whether or not they made the right call (I'm inclined to say they did not, but the real guarantor of that screw-up was Pete Carrol for axing replay), they bungled the situation. Did you see the one side judge signal touchdown on the leinart fumble? Would you have "the balls" to be out of position in a game of that magnitude? Even if the Domers should have lost, it shouldn't have been in that fashion.

the free kick rule is apart of that clock rule, it also mentioned that the clock doesn't start on PAT's, should that not be included either, that is the time rules, there is only one rule on the clock and that deals with all situations in the game

The free kick is in reference to kickoffs when the clock does not start until the ball is touched...

21, seriously, why are you wasting your time.....?
unless you like beating your head against a wall! :smash:

TG05 and the Deacon were obviously watching an old game on ESPN classic and got it confused with the one from today - that's the only explanation i can think of, anyway.

this isnt ryan on here but its his friend. would post on a different name but I keep getting rejected for some reason. but anyway, USC cheated. bottom line.... Reggie Bush pushed his qb into the inzone, Bob Davie just stated it, and after seeing review of it many times. Leinhart did not make it into the inzone by himself. He was pushed. 15 yard penalty, ND wins. Bottom line.

aiding the runner. its a worthless penalty. it happens almsot every play these days so i dont even bother thinking about it. i had to witness it pop out of nowhere in the 03 D5 state championship game when amanda clearcreek was screwed with it. it might as well not even exist these days.

dont respond on something which you dont know anything about. leinharts forward progress was stopped. bush pushed him in, thats a against ncaa rules an a 15 yard penalty. dont get made at me because you dont see this rule used around 99 percent of the time. the fact remains, this rule is in the ncaa rule book

That's fine that's your opinion, but my point still stands!!!

Good, I'm happy that you came to that conclusion.

Lets review the quote that instigated that comment.......

Tivo'd it to make sure, but on the play where Lienert fumbled the ball, if you watch, there was an SC coach down on the sidelines inside the 5. He was clearly outside of the 25, which is as far as they are allowed to go. That's a penalty!
Yeah, just like when other coaches come on the field to argue a call........this is a stretch to say the least.

Oh, but wait there's more! If you watch that same coach calls for a timeout. SC had no timeout's left. That is not only a penalty, but a time run off. There was only 7 seconds put back on the clock, so obviously there should have been no time left had the penalty and run off been done as they should have been. People think the Angels got screwed, well not nearly as badly as ND just did!!!

Please cite to me in the rule book where it states that, it would help clear things up. Here is the NCAA rule book link, link so go dig for a while and cite to me where it states that a run off should occur. If you want to talk a good game, you had better be prepared to back it up bro.

rules exist for reasons like this. and plus the rule better exsist, because we noticed the ncaa has seemed to gotten done with many other rules. quote holding penaltys in 2002.

You had better tell Ryan to teach you some english before typing under his name.......damn. :wink2:

On a side note, I didn't realized that we had so many NCAA football referees on this board........welcome aboard fellas. Please, tell us all your great "interpretations".

i know that, but he wanted to know why the "Free Kick" part was in there, and i explained it to him and he still doesn't understand, that i know of that "Clock Rule" is the only rule that explains when the clock starts and when it doesn't start

No there are plenty of explanations referencing clock...you are basically clueless here. Please back away from the computer
