Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

I don't see Mack keeping him on. Ramonce got cut for the same thing. Brown was our best CB, Foster should replace him. He saw action last year in some big games, but is not the player that Brown was. No excuse for pulling a boneheaded move like that. My biggest concern is still whether Drew Kelson will be able to play at a high(no pun) level w/ the bum ankle. Definitely a huge loss for the team & a big distraction.

Whats the status of your backup freshman LB Sergio Kindle? He's had some ankle injuries from what I understand. That means that you may have 2 out of your top 6 LB's out/ hampered, and your top cover cornerback.

Did I mention that this is a HUGE turn of events in the favor of Ohio St. for this ballgame  This guy had over 25 starts in his college career at corner, you cannot simply replace that in a couple of days.

We'll see if: Mack pulls this kid from the game, and, (not knowing Texas' depth), who will replace the offender, and at what level of defensive play?

Don't know if this dopey-headed development will have a negative mental effect on the Horn's team or not? Mebby by Friday or so, it will be full speed ahead.

JT and D coaches will want to know who will play the position. For sure, early on, TS/JT will test replacement.

Sergio has been nagged by the ankle for a while now. He didn't participate in the scrimmage or vs N.Texas. Mack said he was good enough to contribute this year, but to what extent ?? If he's still having problems by ou, he'll shirt I believe.Kelson is the safety converted to LB. Very fast, blanketed R.Bush in the rose bowl & was a standout last year in Columbus. He got hurt(ankle) before N.Texas & sat out week one. Brown could handle Ginn, Foster..don't think so. May see A.Ross move over to Ginn for this one & the shirts will come off Chykie & Beasley this week, I imagine. Either way, Chizik will field the best he's got to play. One more note...Harris needs to stay away from the team. He's had problems with this kind of thing before & got off. He's turning into a cancer.

Yeah, he held Bush to 13 carries for 82 yards (6.3 ypc) rushing and 6 catches for 95 yards (15.8 ypc) receiving. :roll1:

Actually, considering what Bush did last year, that's not bad. Not good, but it could have been a lot worse. And Bush got the majority of those yards on two plays, the TD run and the screen where he made the bone-headed lateral.

This will be a great game! Itmay be better for the OSU D to be on the road, with as many first time starters they have. It will be all about football, not all the hoopla with friends and family being in town, plus I'm sure Quinn, B Mitch will be on them a little as well as the coaches.

Ramonce got cut for the same thing.

Correction, Ramonce got cut for being on the verge of flunking out last spring.

No doubt about it, Barry's nephew is a pretty good corner, but not as good as Brown. I think the impact on nickel formations will be worse, since Brandon would have come in with Tarell covering the slot. My guess is that Erick Jackson or Matt Melton will be the nickel, or maybe true freshman Robert Joseph.

Speed's not an issue with Brandon, since he's a 10.5 100m guy, but I don't think he is really taller than 5' 7". They matched him up with Sweed a lot in practice and he held his own, but it's still a height mismatch problem.
