well, selvin is a larger running back, I would think that he is our best option.

I figured... anyway... obviously different packages and down and distance will get you different results... but I'd imagine if you guys want to run to the outside on 1st and 10... its not going to work out all that well... a sweep at that point will most likley get you 2nd a 12... I'd imagine that staying tight and trying to get those big OL's on the LB's will work the best... I wouldn't try to beat us to the corner or make your guys do a lot of blocking in space... I'm sure your coaches have seen the film and all... but keep an eye on it... If I'm Texas I try a lot of misdirection on the inside to start off, on the ground.

i don't know if i agree with you on the misdirection. There are two schools of though about how to attack a defense with great speed. One is to try to get them to overpursue and have them out of possision. This is great for a defense that is borderline out of control with speed. Something tells me that all misdirection agains your LB corp will do is allow them more time to make a play with the slower developing offensive plays. The second school of thought is to run straight at them. This nullifies the lateral speed; however, your guys are also very strong. Given the two options I would think that our best bet is to run straight at you. We have to bank on the fact that our oline will beat your d line a majority of the time. If out o line can get to the "second level" on a consistant basis, then that is our best bet.

I'll try to stop by, but relatives are coming up from Texas so I have to hang out with the family at a different tailgate. I'm probably not even going to be able to get down to cbus until 1:30 or so anyway. I'll be sporting one of my BP shirts the whole day.

That's kind of why I said early on... I'd see if I can get the adrenaline to get teh better of them... we have tended to overpursue in the past... then once that adjsutment is made... then move on to the "straight at them" plan... I mean, doin the same thign over and over isn't goin to work, no matter what it is... (That goes both ways, obvously)... the good thing about our D-Line is that while people don't talk about the talent on it as much... (though I think they are quite talented) we do have some good depth in that we can plug in different guys and pay either big and fast, or smaller and even faster... (And smaller is still as big as most teams you'll run across.)

We'll miss Benson in short yardage (obviously) and in the red zone.

You really can't replace what he did in the red zone. He never had a bunch of 15+ yard carries, but if you were to tell me he had a 17 yard run or 22 yard run, I'd bet it was because that's how far we were from the goalline. He just ran that much better when he was in sight of the endzone.

I find the uncertainty in the running game pretty exciting. With Ramonce, S.Young, and the freshmen, we'll have plenty of talent. I just can't wait to see how they'll be used.

Which one is going to be more effective between the tackles... the best way to attack out LB's is to run at staright at them...
To be seen. Neither make a lot of cuts. Selvin seems to make one cut and go. RT is probably one cut and go as well - just smaller and faster.

It will likely depend on the OL/DL match-up. If our OL can't open holes, it'll have to be Selvin. If they can, the RBs could be equally productive.

I agree up the middle is our best bet. The only way I see the misdirection working against yall is if one of our RBs earns a lot of respect early in the game.

I gotchya, clearly we cannot run the same play over and over agian, although i think ou might disagree with that statement. It took them nothing more than the sprint draw to quentin griffin a couple of years ago to hand us our ass

And the "run away from DJ" play last year. At least Adrian Peterson gets tired.
