Game Thread Game Two: Texas 25, Ohio State 22 (final)

im new here but ive been reading this thread for the past month and ive read every single post and there are so many things to argue over, but this is how i see it.

vince young- heisman hopefull who threw 12 TDs to 11 INTs, i know he can run and i respect that but those are not heisman passing numbers and last i checked he plays quarterback not running back, and you need to do more than run, i know he has potental to be a great quarterback but if he doesnt throw well than he has no chance.

young is a threat but hes not what everyone makes him out to be, ive seen him play so im not unimformed im more into football than any1 i know, hes not a proven passer and thats what he needs to do to be successfull against our defense

honestly im more concerned about our line play, texas has a great o-line and d-line and if you can control the trenches than you control the game, if our lines can hold up then i think we have a great chance to win the game.

p.s. i know what im talking about young is a great RUNNING quarterback but his passing number are lacking, there is alot of potental but that wont get it done september 10 at the shoe!

Damn, it must be cool to be a moderator.

I'm pretty sure I'd get drunk one night and start messing with everyone's avatar, signature, what have you. Then everyone would be pissed off. But not me of course, I'd be laughing my ass off.

osugrad, can I be a moderator?

I'm thinking randy's stat thing was serious at first but snowballed and now he's halfway trying to get a rise out of people now. Either that or he really does like those numbers. Y'all will have to excuse me if I remain neutral here.

couldn't agree more jreal and I believe thats what the buckeyes will do. What OSU does very well on Defense IMO is stretching plays out. They're very good in persuite and taking proper angles on the ball. a great example of what I'm talking about is this http://www.cosop.net/OSU/albums/multimedia/umhartnowhere.mpgWatch the pursuit but the one thing OSU can't do is miss the first tackle like our linebacker did. If we can do that to your backs/VY we'll be in good shape.

In Michigan's next drive (or drive after that), they started at nearly the exact same spot, and the geniuses on the Michigan staff decided to run the same play, and this time Carpenter didn't miss the initial tackle (and let the Michigan bench know about it).

hey mili! could we possibly get that clip!? I forget that play??

OK, here's the clip of the play I talked about in my above quote, which almost mirrors the clip that bukIpower posted in his first quote. These two plays happened on consecutive drives for Michigan, showing that their coaches can't adjust for shit.

I've often thought the same thing. But then I realized that people wouldn't like me very much (Yes, SOME people actually DO like me!). Then I'd probably get banned. And that would suck.

" What he meant was you don't know just how fast our LBs actually are"

DJ ran a 4.54 FAT at the combine. If you use the standard hand to FAT conversion factor from track (0.24) that comes to 4.31 hand. If you add 0.24 to your LBs times they are equivalent to 4.7-4.8 FAT, pretty good speed for linebackers, but not in DJ's league.
Dear moron:
you cannot use the standard conversion factor for a combine time. Reason- track times are measured from the gun to the finish, combine times are measured from the reaction (taking the hand off the line) to the finish. The two are in no way comparable.

Lehman's time is 4.47. Last time I checked, 4.46 is faster than 4.47...
Oklahoma Lore, will state that Lehman has been known to run 4.3's in College...

IF its true or not, I don't know and don't care... my point was that Vince has the ability to make good LB's freeze. Neutralizing their speed.

"On his first run, Lehman posted a 4.3-second dash, before a sporadic audience of coaches. A few minutes later, he blazed another 4.3, thus triggering an avalanche of coaches hustling to verify Lehman's speed at closer range. By the time he registered a fourth straight 4.3, he had become the talk of the town. "No one had ever realized who I was until then," he says, while displaying a wry smile."

I'm going to use your facts and call them "true" for this discussion. This DJ dude ran a 4.54 at the combine. Convert to hand time (.24) and you get 4.30 (I don't know how you got 4.31, but that's another story). 4.30 hand time is pretty fast. I can't remember what Hawk's time was (I'm sure someone knows it), but let's say it was 4.45. For some reason, you're adding the .24 and we get 4.69. So you're comparing the 4.30 (which you subtracted the .24) to Hawk's 4.69 (which you added the .24). It looks like you're just adding and subtracting whatever the hell you want to and from whatever numbers you want until they match up with what you want them to match up with.

Well, you'll have to send a resume' to Hubbard, donate to the BP sperm bank twice a week so we can ensure the future of the site, send us three dozen of those legendary Texas women...preferably ones that speak little English, know nothing of feminism or women's rights, and enjoy being barefoot and pregnant...and give me one of those cool cattle prods for crowd management purposes.

Horn's thoughts..

Those things have been posted before on their site with the team previews. They just rewrapped it and presented it in different colors. Good marketing I guess.

I agree with most of what the article implies. Your LB's are scary good and your D-Backs are solid but I agree with an above poster that we're not going to rely on our receivers to win the game for us.

Last season it wasn't any secret that we were going to run the ball, but with our offensive line and Vince's ability to make something out of nothing, there wasn't much a team could do about it... and on the defensive side, having Chizik come over from Auburn as our DC is a huge boost. He's a fan of the 4-3 and loves an aggressive defense. Our depth at D-Line should fit his schemes perfectly.

The knock on the receivers is justified because of their lack of production but it was a VERY young group last year. Most of them were freshman but almost all of them are 4 star recruits and have tremendous upside, which the article implies. Again, we're not expecting to have a reciever gain 100 yds against you, but I don't think we have to to win the game.

If anyone cares... here's hornfans.com's take on the recap...

 thats some of the funniest stuff I've read on here in a long time Grad, and I'm with you Engi horn I too would probably do something when I was drunk.

On another hand if you watch that clip that Mili put down its amazing the lane the carpenter knows to go through. I mean right when the play starts BAMB he hits that whole and hart does even have a chance to go north/south. If we can stretch plays out like that and make VY run out of room to run I think we'll be just fine! Now doing so is easier said than done but I have a feeling we might make it look easy.

Its not a myth, Teddy really IS the fastest LB of all time. AJ Hawk couldn't even hold his jockstrap. Just ask anyone from OK.
But what the OU fans never mention is where he was going when they timed him. Rumor has it that the government was giving away some free land and he was trying to get there before everyone else.
