FWIW I was just over checking out http://www.mackbrown-texasfootball.com/ to look at the Texas oline and dline (the matchups that I am most concerned about) and I must say, that is a very nice site you've got going on. There's all the info on the team you could ever want, easy access to records and historical rosters and anything you would ever want to know about Texas football. It's much better than the official Ohio State site in my opinion. So I'll concede that victory to you, you have a nicer official website for the team, you take that victory, we'll take the victory on September 10th.

Very nice indeed, I've enjoyed my visits there. Tho it makes me want to kill myself when I have to type in mackbrown-texasfootball.com everytime

Also, I still can't get my brain to stop thinking new posts from Torch7 are going to be from an OSU fan. I guess you could be lighting Ginn on fire, but other than that I think its just another omen that he's going to torch your team.

I really don't understand the people that run down CFB. Maybe it is slightly repackaged, but that's because they did more exhaustive previews than you can find in most conference preview magazines.

Let's look at the alternatives:
ESPN: worthless. Formula answers, and anything indepth costs money.
FoxSports: good, but wait, they're either the same or best friends with CFBNews.com
Sportsline (CBS): average, but not the same exhaustive coverage as cfbnews.com, as they are focused on all sports.

I agree with most of what the article implies. Your LB's are scary good and your D-Backs are solid but I agree with an above poster that we're not going to rely on our receivers to win the game for us.

Last season it wasn't any secret that we were going to run the ball, but with our offensive line and Vince's ability to make something out of nothing, there wasn't much a team could do about it...
short of making any guarantees, if you show up and expect to be one dimensional (running of all things) this will not be a very pretty game for you. is your o-line better than our d-line? on paper yes. but the trick here is our line doesn't have to beat yours. they just have to hold their own enough to keep blockers off hawk, carp, and schlegal. that is where your running game will florish or wither and die. if you can't consistantly get hats on each of those 3 running yards will be tough to come by. we are not going to go into this game and put 100% of the pressure on our d line. we know how good your o-line is. your offense will see more defensive looks in the first half than they will see in their next 5 games.

if texas wins this game they will without question have to establish a passing game to open up the run and most importantly, play action. in the big games in the big 10 YOU STOP THE RUN. vy will have to make smart decisions and check out of plays at the line. he can't let our d confuse him or rattle him. make no mistake, we are not going to assign some arbitrary spy on vy every play. its not going to be up to "just" aj hawk, or carp, or schlegal to stop vy. imo, for texas to win this game someone other than vy MUST step up.

The knock on the receivers is justified because of their lack of production but it was a VERY young group last year. Most of them were freshman but almost all of them are 4 star recruits and have tremendous upside, which the article implies. Again, we're not expecting to have a reciever gain 100 yds against you, but I don't think we have to to win the game.
agreed, your wr's don't have to own the game. but they have to be good enough to keep us honest. if they are successful enough to allow for a legit play action fear, your o will do well. thats what, imo, makes this game so exciting. there are going to be so many matchups to watch that are all potentially crucial to the outcome of the game.

If anyone cares... here's hornfans.com's take on the recap...

i noticed one of the posters brought up woods numbers and how it seemed like a good outing and based on that expect vy to have much better numbers. my question is, did they actually watch the game?

Mili, there is a clip at 14:30 (score 14-7 UM) in the second half that illustrates just how bad the Michigan D is.

Troy doesn't have tons of momentum and is not nearly the statue that VY is, yet the tacklers just fall off like little kids trying to tackle their dad in backyard football. Actually, they're worse than that.. b/c the kids at least hold on and get dragged into the end zone.

send us three dozen of those legendary Texas women...preferably ones that speak little English, know nothing of feminism or women's rights, and enjoy being barefoot and pregnant
Minus the part about speaking little English, you are describing the Zeta pledge class when I attended school there. I will try to round some up for the trip to Columbus.

I did get the PM and was happily buried in info, now all I need to know is: What else is good to hit up in C-bus on a game weekend. where are the young co-eds, and do bars really close at 1?

Last but not least, I read the posts, alchohol is frowned upon?

Well if it was allowed, would you be able to suggest a local beverage store that deals in kegs?
