So this whole NYG thing makes this extra weird. So you are buddy's on an espn forum. you give gio your password for the forum? He then makes some picks under your user name... Then you get butt hurt when he uses the password to beat you in some pickem contest? Which results in a back and forth of name calling and talks of a restraining order.... What am I missing here?

The way I read it was that NYG gave everybody's null-American his password and a list of picks to make, and Gio picked the opposite of what he was asked to pick, and won for him. What's really strange is that Gio, despite not having an elementary grasp of the English language (Bitch UP!), knows what "shleprock" means.

"Bitch up" is cutting edge lingo, really a potential advance in slang. But I don't know if it means to act irritably or cowardly. If I were going to use "bitch up" in a sentence, how do I do it?

I don't know how you use it in a sentence, but I do know you will likely see it on a piss-yellow tee shirt over a UM jersey at Crisler next winter.

Good info, I was a little reticent of posting the link of the ex-wife's Obit.

So dare I ask how the ex-wife of John D. Strassini passed away?

There is a link to an Obit out there, but I feel like it's slightly unethcal to post info on someone that has already passed. I will not quote or link it because I just don't think that's right. But from what I've searched her name is Rebecca (so I believe) and had a fiancee, mentioned in the obit. I don't want to start anything.

But more importantly, has anyone contacted that end of the family tree to get their verification of the man pictured?

IF the Rebecca side of the family can in-fact verify that the man pictured as "Gio" Strassini, the one verified as the fraud OSU player, is actually the same person as John, the convicted fraud home building man in the late '90s, that would be pretty solid.


I mean a 3 year stretch in the Pokey can sure have an affect on someone. As James Brown said: "I don't know Karate, but I do know Krazy."

Apologies right up front--I will not be transcribing the nearly two hours of phone conversation I had with Giovanni Strassini this evening. That much audio equates to something like four hours of transcription work, and I'm super tired.

Apologies also for those of you (probably all of you) who will still have unanswered questions. I'll try to relay the interaction as best I can, but there remained topics that Mr. Strassini was unwilling to to discuss in specific detail.

A great deal of the discussion centered around the alleged association between Giovanni Strassini (with whom I was told I was speaking) and the other many aliases that have been referenced here and in other sources. Mr. Strassini maintains unequivocally that he possesses court documents that disassociate him officially with the names John Strassini, John Daley Strassini, and John Struthers/Strothers(sp?).

That disassociation would, in theory, serve to disassociate this Giovanni Strassini with the various legal records unearthed that include references to the aforementioned aliases. This is Strassini's chief concern: the removal of what he considers unsubstantiated claims regarding his criminal history (or rather, lack thereof).

Another very popular topic was that of Strassini's interaction with Wiki and its associates. Admittedly, I had not done any research on that topic, so most of the specifics were lost on me. What he did make clear is that it was Wikipedia's continued unsolicited addition of his name to their articles that spurred this issue to scrutiny.

As far as the central deceit, Strassini admitted to not having played football or baseball for Ohio State. He does, on the other hand, have the 1974 replica Rose Bowl ring and a pair of authentic Gold Pants, both of which he claimed to have received legitimately through close (but unnamed) contacts within the program.

This is the main thread to all this: a man who wanted to be close to the program found a way to do so. Exactly how he managed to become close enough with the team and its coaching staff to spend time on the practice field, travel to team functions and ceremonies, be issued team awards, and avoid scrutiny from the true members of the team is still largely a mystery, as Strassini would not divulge specific names.

The lie, he told me, grew organically without his involvement. Eventually, he came to appreciate the ancillary benefits of being a famous athlete. His own ego was a primary motivating factor, though he maintains also that he did what he could to be generous with the fame that had been conjured for him and said several times in no uncertain terms that he never once received any compensation for any of his dozens (if not hundreds) of appearances and functions.

There are still plenty of questions that remain unanswered. I have a number of my own. For the time being, what I took from the discussion is that this is a man currently in damage control. Strassini understands the unsavory nature of his failure to dispel this false fame and accepts the burden and punishment of ridicule, but he is drawing the line at the criminal association to John Daley Strassini et al of Charlotte, North Carolina and any involvement of his family in the fun-poking process.

There is more to this. Whether the words therein will be enough to satisfy this community remains to be seen. Complete transparency is not what we have. Regardless, I will continue to try to break down and relay the Strassini conversation when I can physically keep my eyes open.
