Graham Mertz (QB Wisconsin, transfer to Florida)

I don't know, I think I'd have to side with cinci on this one. Seems like Cheese gets the most out of their 2 and 3 star kids more so than any other program every year. Whether it's coaching or just their system, they seem to be in the mix (at least in the B1G) every year.

If you are a young, talented 4/5* QB, if you can be the piece that puts the cherry on top, why not? A passing game and the ability to push the ball down the field makes Wisc a difficult team to defend. You can't just sell out on the run like OSU has been able to do for years.
ok....but again. when has Wisconsin ever been known for QB coaching?

and before anyone says Russell Wilson.... He spent 3 years at NC State first..
I was going to point to all of their other QBs outside of Wilson who were serviceable at best in a run-heavy college system and don’t get drafted. If that’s not consistent quality coaching I don’t know what is.

Warren says nope ..we need to protect Nebraska ooops the student athlete.
Can we get odds on Warren allowing Mertz to play considering the opponent?

That's an enormous break for Wisconsin. I didnt realize that their fullback was now their starting RB. That is not a good way to win ball games.

Nebraska has a shot here now. If Corn doesn't load up the box they're just not smart enough and Day should take that apology back. Theres no reason for Wisconsin rushing for 150 for this game. You make their 3rd string QB throw for 300 if you have to.

The odds are ZERO if the second test (i.e. PCR swab) comes back positive too.

My understanding, perhaps incorrect, is that a positive test will be re-tested the following day and, if negative, will be considered a false positive. I read it on Instagram, so it must be correct.

Badgers could lose Mertz for 3 weeks, after positive Covid-19 test

University of Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz could be out three weeks, after testing positive for covid-19.

Mertz is awaiting a PCR swab test to confirm the initial positive diagnosis, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

If that test is positive, the redshirt freshman will have to sit out practice and games for 21 days, according to Big Ten protocols.

If the PCR swab test confirms COVID-19 he will miss 3 weeks: Corn, Purdue, and scUM.

Not sure what would be more fun:

-TTUN wins the games they ‘should’ win, squeaks by Indiana and the Badgers and go into the last three weeks as top 10 team. Then get embarrased in 2 of last 3 regular season games, lose to the West’s #3 and lose whatever bowl they stumble into.

-The Badgers roll into Ann Arbor with whatever body they have as third string QB and rolls TTUN by just being more talented and better coached accross the board.

I like making a list of all of the teams that have made a Big Ten Championship game, and then I laugh at the fact that M*ch*gan still isn't on that list. I like to see more and more teams get added to that list, as long as no teams in the Eastern Division get added. So, I would prefer to see Wisconsin NOT make it, for that reason. I'd like to see Minnesota, Illinois, or Purdue to make it to the Big Ten Championship game. (Am I missing anyone?) For that reason, I'll be rooting against Wisconsin for the most part.

However, I always enjoy seeing Michigan lose. Whenever that game is, On Wisconsin!!

Any outcome where scUM ends up with the (proverbial) "shitty end of the stick" is fine with me....
