Graham Mertz (QB Wisconsin, transfer to Florida)

Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst, speaking with reporters Monday before practice, would not address Mertz's status or that of any player regarding COVID-19 testing. Chryst said he is confident that Wisconsin can play this week's game at Nebraska (0-1).
Redshirt junior Danny Vanden Boom likely would be the next quarterback in line if both Mertz and Wolf are out. After Nebraska, Wisconsin hosts Purdue before visiting No. 13 Michigan. Vanden Boom appeared in three games in 2018, completing the only pass he attempted for a 3-yard touchdown.

LOOK: Wisconsin QB Graham Mertz unveils trademarked logo ahead of NIL laws going into effect

Thursday is a huge day in the future of college athletics. It is, of course, the day that new name, image and likeness rules go into effect within certain states that will allow college athletes to market themselves and legally make money off of their athletic ability and notoriety. Players across the nation have taken notice, and one star quarterback has his own logo ready to go on July 1.

Graham Mertz, the starting quarterback for Big Ten West power Wisconsin, released a video on his Twitter page that includes his very own trademarked logo built around his initials. The logo looks similar to the one used by professional golfer Tiger Woods.

Wisconsin announced earlier this month that it has partnered with Opendorse to launch the YouDub program, which is designed to help players capitalize on their name, image and likeness. The program is designed to help student-athlete assessment, education and brand development. Those include seminars with industry leaders in brand development, financial literacy and social media monetization.

Former Wisconsin QB Graham Mertz to play for Florida in 2023

Former Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz is transferring to Florida, giving the Gators an experienced starter at a depleted position.
Mertz announced his commitment on social media Wednesday. He is expected to enroll at the Southeastern Conference school in January.
A three-year starter at Wisconsin, Mertz left the program after the Badgers hired former Cincinnati coach Luke Fickell to head its program.
