Greg Schiano (HC Rutgers Scarlet Knights)

You don't think OSU, PSU, tsun, tsun State and IU bring credibility to the division?

Nothing good comes from having a competent coach and recruiter at Rutgers.

It’s not to say the division doesn’t have credibility; well Dantonio doesn’t really anymore imo but I just think it’s a good addition. I don’t think it’s a huge deal if we don’t get that occasional 3-Star development prospect because of him.

But you’re right; the top of the div absolutely has it nd IU being solid makes it even better. Now we just need Gundy at Nebraska after Frost gets the axe.

Michigan St presently brings nothing. Dantonio has lost his mojo and is toast.

Agreed but in general, they are certainly viewed as a legit team most of the time.

Specific teams aside, this is just another flavor of the "We want the B1G to go good to help OSU" discussion and I still point out that you want the B1G to be "just good enough".

There is zero to be gained from it being 1 degree better than it has to be.

I agree, and I was firmly in the opposite camp pre-playoff. These days, just good enough that it can't be used against you if you're fighting for the fourth playoff spot is all that's needed. And if the playoffs expand to 8 with all P5 Champs getting auto-invites, it becomes irrelevant.

This year is Exhibits 1-13 that Ohio State just needs to take care of business

Not because the league was bad; I expect the league will do well this bowl season. But the airwaves were full of people using Ohio State’s dominance of the league as evidence that the league was bad. There was plenty of perception out there that the B1G was just the ACC North because Ohio State was doing to it what Clemson was doing to the All Cupcake Conference.

The Buckeyes took care of business and are in a position to be in, no matter what. If they take care of business again on Saturday, they’ll be the one seed.

Clemson took care of business, including a 1 point lucky victory over a basketball school. They’re in.

I get that all of the criticism of the cfp is about the Buckeyes not getting the same treatment as others. Understanding it doesn’t mean I have to see it that way. This isn’t about whether the Buckeyes have been treated unfairly; not to me anyway.

This year, the Buckeyes didn’t lose by 4 scores to a team that no one outside of the league footprint can remember the name of. This year, they’re the one seed and will probably still be the one seed on the 10th. This year, they controlled what they could control. This year, they left no doubt, much less the need for the benefit of one.

Is life unfair?

Hell yes it is.

They can keep their unfair advantages. They can keep their benefit of the doubt. We don’t need it. We’re Buckeyes. We get ours without those things.

Do not like having Schiano and Locksley in an area of such easy access/high yield recruiting talent.

Day and co's job just got harder.
I don't disagree, but in all fairness, I'll be mildly shocked if Locksley is the Maryland coach past the last game of the 2021 season. So I expect half that problem to resolve itself in relatively short order.
